Abstract

1388059 Securing conductors RAYCHEM CORP 22 June 1972 29275/72 Heading H2E A strain relieving device for electrical connections is in the form of heat-shrinkable tubing 2 of e.g., polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride, and an annular metal disc 3 which has been rigidly held in place within the tubing 2 by heat-shrinking, the cable 4 may then be secured by shrinking the tube 2 and gripping it on to the cable 4. The tubing 2 may be internally lined with thermoplastic material which melts below the shrinking temperature to improve the bond between cable and tube. The disc 3 abutting the rear wall 9 of the plug casing 6, on application of strain to cable 4, is positioned so that lead connections 11 are not strained and stress is only applied to the plug casing 6.
