Abstract

1341795 Securing articles of furniture together in rows; chairs EXPO NORD AB 3 Feb 1972 [4 Feb 1971 23 Nov 1971] 5167/72 Headings A4J, A4U Chairs each of which has lateral frame bars 3 extending along the side edges of a back rest 1 and forming upwardly converging front and rear legs 4, 5, are connected in a row by the interengagement of L-section coupling flanges 11, 12 projecting from the outer side surfaces of confronting bars 3, the chairs being disconnected by raising one relatively to the other. Each chair consists of fabric 9 having marginal beads 10 located in channels 7 in the bars 3 and kept taut by cross bars extending between the bars 3, the arms 11 of the coupling flanges projecting in opposite directions at respective sides of the chair. In modifications, a chair is connected to an arm rest, or two chairs are connected by an arm rest having a coupling flange projecting from each side and lowered between the lateral frame bars of adjacent chairs. In further modifications, the lateral frame bars terminate at the upper end of the back rest and are bent intermediate their ends to form U-shape legs, or the coupling flanges are discontinuous or include positions which are directed vertically or vertically and obliquely to the horizontal or are formed on U-shape bars forming the front and rear legs, or V-shape bars connected to the front and rear legs.
