Abstract

1328940 Transistor amplifying circuits HEWLETT-PACKARD CO 14 Aug 1972 [23 Aug 1971] 37797/72 Heading H3T In a transistor amplifier for a cable television system both current and voltage feedback are applied, and the loop phase shift is of the order of 90 degrees. In one embodiment, voltage feedback is applied by means of resistors BE1, RF1, Fig. 4, and current feedback by means of resistors RE2, RF2; a padding resistor RB is utilised to make the input impedance of the amplifier match the impedance of the input cable 25. The phase shift of 90 degrees is introduced by the output transistor 26. In a second embodiment, voltage feedback is produced by means of resistors RE1, RF1, Fig. 5 a D.C. blocking capacitor being placed in series with resistor RF1. Current feedback is introduced by resistors R1, RE2, RF2, resistor RE2 being in parallel with resistor R, via a D.C. blocking capacitor. The input and output are via transformers 41, 42 respectively. A pushpull embodiment is also described in the Specification (Fig. 6, not shown) comprising two such circuits together with phase-splitting input and output transformers.
