1307854 Vehicle power steering CAM GEARS Ltd 10 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 41684/69 Heading B7H A power assisted vehicles steering system of the rack and pinion kind has a torque sensitive valve 7 interposed between the steering column 1 and the pinion for controlling pressure fluid to a main servomotor 8. The servomotor 8 is rigid or integrated with the valve unit 7 and is of any rotary type, e.g. a roller, vane or gear motor. Alternatively a ram type servo may act on the rack bar at another point such as by replacing the slideway 6A or in a further variant a second servo motor is fitted in parallel with the main servomotor 8 for example with its casing mounted in the location of the bracket 6.
