Abstract
1284914 Keys for locks EATON GmbH 11 Dec 1969 [11 Dec 1968] 60597/69 Heading E2A In order to prevent picking of a barrel lock with a misfitting key by moving it axially to raise or lower the tumblers by an amount which coincides with the unlocking requirements, the bitting of the key is so shaped that on axial movement, the tumblers are moved irregularly, i.e. some move later or at different speeds from others. For instance in the form shown, the key has five notches of which 10, 12 and 14 have the same form, but 11 and 13 have a wider base to delay their action on the tumblers as the key is withdrawn. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) the inclinations of the sides of the notches may vary, or (Fig. 5, not shown) the axial spacing of the notches may not coincide with that of the tumblers.
