1279366 Spray producers KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN NV. 19 Jan 1971 [20 Jan 1970] 2649/71 Heading B2F [Also in Division B3] A cooling system for the cooling of a horizontally moving metal strip has a number of water boxes 1 under the strip positioned one behind the other in the direction of movement of the strip, each of which has a ridge 2 extending through which is a number of equidistant and parallel discharge passages 3 which direct cooling water towards the strip. Each water box is supplied with water from a perforated pipe 4 extending longitudinally through it, the perforations 5 being shaped so as to deliver the water in a direction with a component opposite to the direction of flow of the liquid through the pipe, this being to provide a uniform flow from the passages 3. Each water box with its ridge may be formed as a single casting.
