Abstract

1275112 Slidable sashless doors P ALGRAIN 24 Sept 1969 [27 Sept 1968] 47021/69 Heading E1J A sliding door comprises at least a sashless bendable safety glass sheet 6 on the exterior and if desired also a sashless sheet 7 on the interior side supported in an upper guide 1 by hangers 9 having slides 10 and guided at the bottom by guides 14 and low friction pad strips 19, and in the closing position of the sheet(s) when opposite the door opening are given a movement towards the door frame 8 to bring the top and bottom marginal portions of the sheet into pressure contact with peripheral sealing strips 20 at the upper and lower rails 8, 17 of the frame to make good sealing contact and thereafter to apply pressure at the median location of the pane(s) 6, 7 to cause them to flex so that their lateral sides come into pressure contact with seal strips 20, 21 curved on the jambs of the frame to correspond with the curvature of the bent glass sheets. The seal strips are held in Z-section holders 24 adjustable laterally by slots 25 and screws 26. The binding of the sheets 6, 7 concurrently is effected by a handle operated shaft 28 having thereon two slidable bushes 29, 30 secured to respective sheets 6, 7, the shaft having thereon pins 33, 34 sliding in cam slots in the bushes which are drawn together to flex the sheets or separated to release the sheets from the sealing strips prior to a sliding movement to open the opening.
