Abstract

1,210,080. 080. Optical system for viewing distant objects; projection system. ELTRO-G.m.b.h. & CO. GES, FUR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK and R. RODENSTOCK [trading as OPTISCHE WERKE G. RODENSTOCK]. Dec. 29, 1967 [Dec. 30, 1966], No. 59200/67. Heading G2J. An optical system for viewing distant objects which furnishes two images separated in space, disposed in one plane 2 and on different scales comprises an objective 1, a ray divider comprising a partly transmissive reflecting surface 6 characterized in that the surface 6 is contained in a reflecting arrangement consisting of pentagonal prism 4 and wedge shaped prism 5 joined at 6, an equal-sided triangular roof edge prism 9 or a set of Porro prisms which displaces the reflected rays laterally and directs them parallel to the optical axis of objective 1 and all three-lens inverting lens system 11 in the path of these rays or both the reflected and transmitted rays. The transmitted rays may be bent by a rotatable double wedge 16 and a field lens 10 may be placed in the path of the reflected rays. The objective lens may form part of a telephoto lens system. Light-sensitive means e.g. photoelectric means, may be disposed behind plane 2. The optical system may form part of a projector or telescope system.
