An air duct in which a stream of air to be humidified is sprayed with water has an arrangement of spaced, parallel zig-zag plates to remove excess water from the air stream, each plate being assembled from blade elements made of a synthetic plastics material and interengaging at their longitudinal edges as shown, each blade element having a projecting fin 2a.
