Abstract

1,118,201. Centrifugal liquid-liquid extraction. VITAMINS Ltd. 29 Sept., 1965 [12 Nov., 1964], No. 46172/64. Addition to 998646. Heading B1F. In an apparatus of the type defined in Specification 998,646, the agitator is mounted separately from the collector which removes one of the layers formed in the cell. As shown in Fig. 1, a cylindrical casing 10 is divided by annular walls 12 into a series of cells and a transfer assembly (comprising a collector pipe 17 and discharge pipe 18 communicating through transfer tube 16) for each cell is supported on a spindle 14 about which it rotates. A support rod 21 carries an agitator 20 for each cell, said rod being attached at each end to pivot rods 22, and being supported and caused to reciprocate between the indicated extreme positions by means of a pivot rod and crank arm attached to rotating spindle 14.
