Abstract

1,115,111. Air heating stoves. CARRIER CORPORATION. 2 Feb., 1966 [30 March, 1965], No. 4676/66. Headings F4S and F4W, A gas burning device comprises a gas burning assembly, a heat exchanger for transferring heat from the combustion gases to a secondary fluid, and a baffle 36 located in the path of the combustion gases, the baffle including porous material, e.g. glass fibre, the quantity and location thereof being such as to prevent the phenomenon of audible resonance. The drawing shows an air heating stove in which a gas burner 15 is located at the bottom end of each of a number of upright passages 23 around which room air to be heated is forced by means of a fan 13 through passages 19. The porous material is arranged at the outlet ends of the passages 23 and includes a glass fibre or mineral wool mat supported on wire mesh 34 and overlaid by the baffle 36. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a heat-exchange element is provided with an upwardly open channel-shaped baffle (42) in which glass fibre or rock wool (43) is disposed.
