Abstract

The output of a controlled oscillator 1 is fed to phase detectors 2 and 3 where it is combined with in-phase and quadrature signals at a reference frequency f o ; the output of detector 3 is differentiated in unit 4 and fed to a further phase detector 5 where it is compared with the output of detector 2 to produce an output which is positive or negative according to the sense of the frequency deviation of oscillator 1. The outputs of detectors 5 and 2 are fed through respective amplifiers 6, 7 and filters 8, 9 to the tuning element 10 of the oscillator 1.
