Abstract

1,091,389. Fire extinguishing system. WALTER KIDDE CO. Ltd. March 23, 1966 ,[March 24, 1965], No. 12893/66. Heading A5A. A fire extinguishing system comprises a trunk-line duct system having outlets 15 extending into desired portions of a building and normally supplying air for ventilation from an air conditioning system 10 but in the event of fire adapted to supply foam from a foam generator 12, valves 18 and 19 selectively controlling the admission of air for ventilation and foam to the duct system. Each outlet 15 has a valve 20. The system may be operated manually or automatically by a fire-detection device arrange to operate the various valves. Preferably opening of the valve 19 is delayed until the valve 18 has been closed. The valves 20 may selectively be closed during distribution of foam through the duct system, each valve normally being held open by a counter-weight and closeable by energising a solenoid.
