Abstract

1,063,671. Exhaust manifolds. CHATWIN AGRICULTURAL MACHINES Ltd. June 10, 1965 [April 13, 1965], No. 15718/65. Heading F1B. An exhaust manifold is surrounded by heat insulating material so that the exhaust gases continue burning in the manifold to oxidize the carbon monoxide therein. The insulating material, e.g. asbestos, is contained within a casing 17 which is surrounded by another casing 21, the space between which may be evacuated. Nickel alloy heating coils 16 may be arranged in the exhaust ports, which coils may be heated electrically during the warming up period. The electric supply may be under the control of the engine choke valve. A fuel-air mixing device as described in Specification 748, 352 may be provided in the mixture intake passage.
