Convertable furniture includes a trough shaped body member 1 (Figs. 1-5, not shown) with a curved bottom, a top cover plate with one or more hinged doors 8, and detachable legs 2 secured by clamping screws 3 engaged in vertical slots 6 in the legs 2 to selectively vary the height of the body member 1. A pair of U-shaped gridded frames 4 and a pair of plain grid frames 5 are releasably fitted to the top of the body 1 to provide a cot. With the body 1 lowered to contact with the ground a rocking cradle is provided. The closed doors 8 may provide a table top (Fig. 5). The partly open doors 8 may be propped in an inclined position (Fig. 12, not shown), to provide book-slopes. The body 8 may be stood on end after removing the legs 2 to provide a wardrobe (Fig. 13, not shown) which may be combined with a similarly formed body extension 9. With a centre grid 5 removed and the body 1 lowered, a rocking chair may be formed. The grid frames 4, 5 may be utilised to provide shelving (Figs. 6, 7, not shown), a play-pen, a book-rack (Fig. 11, not shown) or a child's table (Fig. 10, not shown) in which the frame 5 is of plate form.
