Abstract

1,031,606. Bearings. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Jan. 22, 1965 [Jan. 22, 1964], No. 2703/64. Heading F2A. [Also in Division H2] A bearing member for the spindle of a synchronous electric motor comprises cylindrical portions 8, 9, Fig. 1 (not shown), connected by integral axially-extending portions 10, 11, the cross-sectional shape of which is that of a segment of a circle having the same radius as the outer radius of the portions 8, 9. The bearing member, which may be made of synthetic plastics material such as P.T.F.E. for example, receives a spindle 12 therein. A lubricant chamber 14 is formed between the portions 8, 9, the members 10, 11 and the spindle 12. The bearing member may be provided with peripheral or axial ridges to retain it in a cylinder 3 and may be moulded in a hollow cylindrical mould, a rectangular block being disposed between two mould pins to provide the space 14.
