A furniture leg comprises a tube A of circular, square or rectangular cross section with a fixing plate A<SP>1</SP> mounted on its upper end and with a slot or slots a<SP>1</SP> in one or more of its sides in which slot a<SP>1</SP> is secured a plate B or bracket to which is secured, preferably by screws c, a cross rail C extending between adjacent legs. The leg may be plastic coated and is provided at its lower end with a plastic ferrule a<SP>2</SP>.
