Abstract

101,830. Horton, H. M., and Liebmann, M. N. Nov. 26, 1915, [Convention date]. Stocks; sighting-accessories; firing- appliances applicable generally; breech actions, sliding breech-block. -Consists of an auxiliary stock combined with a hyposcope for sighting from cover, and provided with means for actuating the breech block and the firing-mechanism of the rifle. The auxiliary stock 8 is fixed to a frame 4, 5, 9 provided with a socket 3 to receive the butt of the rifle, and with clips 7, 6 for securing the rifle. The trigger is actuated by a cranked arm 18 connected to a sliding rod 14 adapted to be pulled by an auxiliary trigger 13. The boltoperating mechanism comprises a longitudinal rod 24 mounted to turn and slide and having an operating-lever 27 and a bent lever 25 adapted to pass under the rifle and engage the ordinary bolt lever 23, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. When the breech is locked, the lever 27 stands out, as shown in full lines in Fig. 3. To open the breech, the right hand is passed through the frame and the lever 27 drawn inwards and backwards. The hyposcope 10 is adjustably secured to the upright 4 by a hinged clip 12, shown in plan in Fig. 6, tightened by a thumb-nut.
