Abstract

1,008,794. Valves. SULZER FRERES S.A. July 27, 1962 [July 27, 1961], No. 29031/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4A] A check valve which is stated to be suitable for installation in a water recirculation line of a steam generator (see Division F4), has a valve member 104 which rests by its own weight on the seating face 106. When flow occurs through the valve in the direction indicated, the valve 104 is lifted off its seat. A connection line 110 from the outlet pipe 102 transmits the downstream pressure to the rear of the valve and closes it when pressure conditions are such as to induce reverse flow. To prevent chattering of the valve on its seat when the pressure difference across the valve is small or fluctuating control means may be used which measures this pressure differential and at a selected value actuates a motor to drive a rod 108 into contact with the valve member 104 so as to close the valve positively.
