Selon l'invention, les galets ou tambours réalisés en matériau élastomère, ont une forme profilée permettant, après usinage, une variation du diamètre intérieur du poignet pour le passage des câbles, en vue d'obtenir une large gamme de diamètres d'introduction de différents types de câbles. Cet usinage est cylindrique, concave, en triangle ou toutes formes adaptées aux câbles ou tuyaux guidés dans le poignet. De manière plus avantageuse, la forme des galets ou tambours est en diabolo. La modification de la forme des galets permet ainsi de passer d'un diamètre d'ouverture minimum de 40 mm à un diamètre d'ouverture maximum de 55 mm, dans l'exemple d'application du poignet décrit dans le Brevet français précité. L'usinage de différents galets est très facile à obtenir et à réaliser de par leur matériau constitutif, et de par le montage des galets ou tambours dans le corps. Ainsi on peut sans difficulté, tout en conservant le même corps de base du poignet, adapter celui-ci à tous types de câbles ou d'ensembles de câbles à guider. On a ainsi illustré aux dessins deux réalisations possibles des galets avec des diamètres différents. (D) représente le plus grand diametre, (D1) représente le plus petit diamètre.
