Abstract

The packaging is for end pieces of string (13a, 13b) of the same length, for e.g. tying the necks of sacks. Each string is of approximately the same length and its end is held together by a metal clip (11, 12). The dia of the strings is constant allowing easy removal of each string. The string consists of synthetic material with a small proportion of natural fibres. The ends of the clips may be rounded or otherwise without sharp edges likely to cause injury and clip positions may be varied to ensure staggering (11a, 11b) when hanks are incorporated in bundles. A clip-placing station may use a machine for each hank in a bundle, pieces being cut to length after the clips have been placed.

Description

The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of bundles of ends of string, as well as the bundles thus obtained, generally called "handles" by professionals.

In various industries, a certain length of string is used for certain repetitive operations, for example the closing of bags. To save time, by avoiding unrolling a ball or bobbin and cutting a length Each time, we use pieces of string cut in advance To the right length (for example of the order of 50 cm to 75 cmM. For convenience and speed of use, it is useful to have handles of ends of string, presented so as to be able to extract the ends of string one by one without difficulty. Up to now, each handle of ends of string, comprising a hundred ends of string arranged in a bundle, is linked to the vicinity of its two ends by means of threads or string, tight enough to hold the ends of string, but not excessively so as to be able to extract without difficulties the first ends of string These handles of a hundred ends of string are advantageously grouped, for example by ten, thus constituting a set comprising a thousand ends of string to facilitate storage, delivery and handling.

According to the present invention, a handful of ends of string of the same length, arranged in a bundle, is held in the vicinity of each of its two ends by a staple.

Other characteristics of the invention will emerge during the description which follows, given by way of nonlimiting example with reference to the attached drawings, and which will make it clear how the invention can be carried out.

In FIG. 1, one hundred pieces of twine of the same length are held together by two metal staples 11, 12 to form a handle 13. According to a characteristic of the present invention, the nature of the twine is chosen so that the diameter of the twine has a very high regularity, so as to avoid excess thickness. It is thus possible to carry out an automatic stapling with a determined tightening, ensuring a sufficient hold of the beam while allowing manual or automatic extraction without difficulty of a piece of string. If the string had an irregular thickness, it could be that 'there is at the right of a staple an excess thickness coming from the coincidence of irregularities of the string, and the tightening of the staple, whose installation and forming are ensured automatically by the laying machine, could be excessive and one could not extract a piece, or only with difficulty.

Advantageously, according to the invention, strings of constant section made of artificial material, for example based on viscose, may be used, which may optionally contain a minor proportion of natural fibers.

Figure 2 shows the end of a set of ten handles of ends of string. Note that the staples lia, llb, llc, lld, etc. are slightly offset.

This is provided according to the invention to prevent the superposition of staples causing an excess thickness, which would interfere with packaging and handling. The ten packages 13a, 13b, 13c, .... are held together by one or more wires such as 14. This allows the packages to be easily and quickly separated, from which the strings are extracted without undoing the handles 13 themselves.

According to a characteristic of the method according to the invention, the staples are placed on the bundles of strings before they are cut to the correct length.

The cutting operation is then carried out between two staples.

FIG. 3 represents an example of a usable staple, before installation. After installation, the clip has substantially the shape of a circle. We will preferably choose staples 11 whose
ends' 15, 16 are rounded or at least not pointed,
to eliminate the risk of injury to personnel using
tower. The clip 11 can advantageously be made of steel wire
galvanized, for example 2 mm in diameter. She may be
in another metal, such as copper or even non-metallic.

Advantageously, the clip is not flat, the ends
15 and 16 being slightly offset from the plane of the drawing
In case the handles are presented by
groups of ten, as shown in Figure 2, there will be more A staple ten horses of a hundred son simultaneously.

An auto stapling station is therefore advantageously used
matic, for example electropneumatic, equipped
ten staplers. To obtain a slightly offset arrangement of the staples, the staplers will have a certain
offset: they can be staggered over a distance of the order of one to a few centimeters. This machine is
located between a bobbin winder of strings and a
traction and cutting station. The stapling station can
be fixed or mobile, depending on the control possibilities of
traction station movement.

During the manual tying operation 14 of the
bundle of strings on the traction station, staples
will be placed automatically around the handles of a hundred
'' strands, in two rows about 50 mm apart, space
reserved for cutting the boot. In this case, it will be advantageous to have a mobile stapling station, the string
not moving during the laying of string 14, or
still from a fixed post with twice as many staplers,
for simultaneously placing two consecutive staples, spaced
about 50 mm on each handle of one hundred strands.

After installation, the aggregate looks round and the end
of legs is not hurtful.

It goes without saying that the embodiment described is not
that an example and that it would be possible to modify it, in particular
try by substitution of technical equivalents, without going out
for this the scope of the invention.
