Abstract

A device with an ejectable clack for cylindrical tubes incorporates a seating in the tube which reduces the dia. of the latter and a ball in flexible elastic material resting on the seating. The ball can pass through the seating by elastic deformation, under a sufficient fluid press. The dia. of the ball is pref. less than but near to, that of the tube. When it is applied in injecting the ground with hardenable materials, e.g. concrete, the tube pref. has holes distributed around its periphery immediately upstream of the seating, closed by an elastic sleeve which forms a non-return valve. These holes serve to deliver a fluid around the tube. The tube can have a succession of seatings stepped along its length with holes at each one. The valves allow realisation of a step-wise injection from the top downwards whereas existing devices allows only a reverse course, at the cost of great complication. In loose ground the rock near the surface can receive the hardenable liq. first under a moderate press., so that there is no risk of dislocating the rock or inducing lifting of the ground. As the ball progresses deeper and deeper layers of ground can receive the liq. under greater and greater pressures, but are protected against dislocations by the reinforcement of the layers above.
