Abstract

The polyester polyol of average M.W. 500-5000 and contg. >=1 pendant carboxyl gp, and an organic polyisocyanate (e.g., TDI, MDI, etc., 1.3-2.5 mole) are reacted e.g., in dioxane at 40-140 degrees C to give prepolymer contg. -NCO. The prepolymer is then chain-elongated with diamino cpd. e.g., ET-(isophorone)-diamine of 0.7-1 mole based on the mole of NCO, in water and simultaneously the pendant carboxy gp is neutralised. The polyesterpolyol is prepd by reacting glycol component contg. 10-70 mole % of glycol, (where R: 1-3C alkyl, e.g. 2,3-dimethylol propionic acid) with dicarboxylic acid component contg. 5-50 mole @ of aromatic dicarboxylic acid, e.g., phthalic acid, etc. by known esterifying method. The glycol components are, e.g., Et-oxide additives of Et-glycol, bisphenol A, etc. The coated film, obtd. using th resin soln. has excellent tensile strength, elastic recovery, thermoresistance, chemical resistance and solvent resistance.
