Abstract

The tube is inserted into an opening and rotated. A free running knife edge roller is inside the opening and enters the tube bore. Another similar roller is fixed to a slide which moves perpendicular to the tube; this roller is on the tube exterior. The slide is operated by an hydraulic cylinder, the piston advancing the roller to contact the tube wall. The reaction causes the cylinder to move rearwards and operate another slide, this carrying the bore roller. Bot rollers come together, shearing through the tube as it rotates. At the end of the stroke, the cylinder reserses.
