Abstract

The valve employs a piston valve element to provide bypass flow. A second piston valve is used to direct flow to drain, as required, and each piston is rod-actuated from an eccentric pin carried by a spur gear pinion, each pinion meshing with one of a pair of spur gear wheels mounted coaxially on a common drive shaft. Each gear wheel has teeth along only part of its circumference, the toothless arc(s) corresp. to inactive periods of the associated piston valve that all the programmed, piston valve movements necessary for a complete regeneration cycle are carried out in a single revolution of the common drive shaft.
