Abstract

Binders for roadways consist of a mixt. of a bitumen with a penetration of 20-300, pref. 80-220, 3-12% of an elastomer, consisting of a sequenced elastomeric copolymer of polystyrene- butadiene-polystyrene, or polystyrene-polystyrene, 3-15% of a plasticizing oil distilling between 200-300 degrees C, 1-5% of a resin to increase the sticking power, pref. a hydrogenated colophony ester, and 0.1-0.5% of an adhesive activator, pref. an amine. The bitumen mixture has a melt and flow behaviour similar to the bitumen alone, and can be sprayed easily and has good adhesion to the aggregates even in the presence of water.
