Abstract

The mould has vertical slots distributed evenly on its circumference starting at least 200 mm away from the top and extending downwards to have a length amounting to 50-85% of the mould height. The mould is mounted in a device permitting its reciprocal axial rotation over an angle equal to the spacing between adjacent slots. This results in the even distribution of the oolant in the slot zones, into which the coolant is injected by nozzle rotating together with the mould. The system ensures a uniform solidi cation front of the section being cast.
