Abstract

Longitudinally divided webs are wound on at least two rolls (6) supported either side of a vertical plane passing through the axis of a driven support roller (7) on the upper half of the periphery of the support roller (7). The ratio of the diameters of the support roller (7) and of the winding rolls (6) in the fully wound state is 1 to 2.5. The angle ( alpha ) between the vertical plane containing the axis of the support roller (7) and the supporting line of the winding rolls (6) is not greater than 40 DEG . A weight-relieving device (8) which can be adjusted as regards its force depending on the respective diameter of the winding rolls (6) acts on the axis of the winding rolls. Pressure rollers (16) mounted on vertically movable crossbars (13) can bear on the rolls (6) at the commencement of a winding operation.
