Abstract

A method of centrifugally washing and drying textile fabrics in a combined centrifugal washing and drying machine, comprising an elastically mounted tub accommodating a drum arranged to rotate about a horizontal drum axis, an electric motor to drive the drum to a washing speed and a spin drying speed, and transmission members having a variable transmission ratio between the drive shaft and the drum shaft, and means for supplying and extracting water, wherein after the washing operation, when the motor is switched to the speed of drawing by centrifugation and the drum is accelerated with the tub still full of water, an intermediate speed is obtained at which the torque delivered to the drum shaft and the associated reaction torque are balanced, this balance being maintained until the water in the tank has been dragged in rotation and the reaction torque of the drum has been reduced, after which continues the acceleration of the drum.
