Abstract
A chimney cowl comprises a short duct 10 engaging the chimney, inner E and outer E 1 deflector formations attached to the duct, each formed of two plates 11 and 12 or 17 and 18 bent over in a closed path between opposite points on the duct, the formations being angularly staggered so that the plates of one formation are located opposite the spaces of the other formation. Plates 11 and 12 are disposed at right angles to one another and are of smaller radius than and smaller width than plates 17 and 18 which are similarly disposed. Where the plates cross they form flat portions P and P 1 which are joined together by a bolt 21 within a distance piece 20, said bolt being coaxial with the duct 10. Each plate has a tapered extension 16 welded at 15 to the duct 10. The plates may be polygonal in shape (Fig. 5) or more than two per formation (Fig. 6).
