Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and lands. It also relates to a set for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and lands.
- Corrosion can also occur, particularly if residues remain in the barrel not only from the firing of the shot, but also if moisture and/or similar dirt penetrates the barrel from the outside, as can happen, for example, when the firearm is used outdoors and in rainy weather, humidity or in extreme situations in the field. This can be the case.
- contamination penetrating the barrel of a firearm from the outside occurs regardless of whether or not a shot was fired with the firearm during the respective use.
- the firearm In order to prevent negative consequences for the firearm and its safe and precise use, and in particular to preserve the lifespan of the firearm, it is typically cleaned after use and before being properly stowed away. In addition to cleaning the outside of the weapon, the barrel of the firearm is also cleaned inside. Aids in the form of cleaning devices are typically used for this cleaning. Push or pull devices are used which can be inserted into and through the barrel and to which cleaning elements can be attached to a free end for mechanical cleaning of the barrel, if necessary assisted by cleaning agents applied to the cleaning elements or previously introduced into the barrel, such as gun oil or the like.
- Cleaning devices used include cleaning rods, gun cleaning chains or gun cleaning ropes, which have a diameter such that they can be passed through the barrel of the firearm to be cleaned.
- the cleaning elements are then attached to the cleaning rods, gun cleaning chains or gun cleaning ropes.
- These can be brush-like elements, such as wire brushes, or textile elements, such as braided textile wicks or felt elements.
- Felt elements are often used today, which are typically cylindrical felt plugs whose outer diameter is adapted to the inner diameter of the barrel, the so-called caliber, so that when passed through the barrel they are in close contact with the inner surface of the barrel and exert a mechanical cleaning effect there. Felt cleaning elements of this kind are used, for example, in the DE 27 06 886 A1 revealed.
- the present invention relates to devices for cleaning barrels of firearms with a pull piece that is flexible transversely to a longitudinal direction, such as a pull rope or a pull chain. It also provides that one or more felt elements for cleaning the barrel can be attached to the end of this flexible pull piece.
- Such cleaning devices are basically known from the prior art, for example from the publication mentioned above. US2012/0186128A1 .
- a problem with the use of these cleaning devices is that, particularly when cleaning the barrels of firearms that are provided with grooves and fields, in order to impart a rotation about its own longitudinal axis to the projectile that rushes through the barrel and is pressed into and guided by these structures and thereby stabilizes the projectile trajectory outside the barrel, the felt elements used also engage in the structures of the grooves and fields and are set in rotation when pulled through by the pull piece. This leads to the pull piece twisting about its longitudinal axis and ensures that a counterforce exerted by the pull piece on the felt element(s).
- This counterforce in turn means that the felt element(s) do not slide forcelessly through the barrel and along the grooves and fields, but are pushed back in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation predetermined by the grooves and fields.
- the object of the invention is to remedy this situation and to provide a device for cleaning firearms of the type mentioned at the outset, which in particular enables an improved cleaning effect to be achieved.
- a device for cleaning barrels of firearms in particular those having grooves and fields, has at least the following elements: an elongated pull piece that is flexible transversely to a longitudinal direction and has a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end; a handling section arranged at the first longitudinal end of the pull piece; and a rigidly formed cleaning section arranged at the second end of the pull piece, which is designed and configured such that it can receive and hold at least one felt element, in particular one that is cylindrical in shape.
- the device claimed and disclosed here for cleaning the barrels of firearms basically corresponds to the devices of this kind known from the prior art with a flexible pull piece, which can be, for example, a pull rope or a pull chain.
- a flexible pull piece which can be, for example, a pull rope or a pull chain.
- Such flexible pull pieces which are rigid in the pulling direction in order to be able to transfer a pulling force directly to the cleaning section and the felt element or elements attached to it, have the particular advantage that they are easy to stow and store due to their flexibility transverse to the longitudinal direction. For example, they can be wound into loops placed on top of one another and stored in a box or case. They can thus be stored in a compact form or even carried personally. for example in the personal equipment of an armed force such as members of the police, security services or armed forces.
- the special feature of the device according to the invention is that the cleaning section is connected to the tension piece via a coupling piece that can rotate freely about a longitudinal axis.
- the coupling piece is connected to the cleaning section in a rotationally fixed manner with a first coupling part and to the tension piece in a rotationally fixed manner with a second coupling part.
- the first and second coupling parts can rotate freely against each other about the longitudinal axis and the longitudinal axis is aligned with the longitudinal direction of the tension piece at its second longitudinal end.
- a rotationally fixed connection of the respective coupling part with the adjacent element includes a possible one-piece or one-part design as well as a fixed connection of two separately formed parts.
- the design according to the invention thus creates the possibility for the cleaning section to rotate around the longitudinal axis relative to the traction piece, which means that when the traction piece and in particular the cleaning section with one or more felt elements arranged on it is pulled through, these felt elements follow the turns of the grooves and fields in the barrel to be cleaned and can rotate around the longitudinal axis without this rotation being transferred to the traction piece and causing an opposing counterforce in the opposite direction.
- the felt element or elements can freely follow the geometry of the inner surfaces of the barrel and achieve an optimal cleaning effect while remaining in close contact with this inner surface.
- the fact that the coupling piece is directly connected to the cleaning section, i.e.
- the coupling piece is designed to be freely rotatable, i.e. it can basically rotate around its longitudinal axis without any angle limitation, and in principle it can also perform several such rotations, i.e. rotations of more than 360°.
- the coupling piece is designed in such a way that this rotation capability is achieved with as little rotational resistance as possible, for example by using a ball or roller bearing or by using low-friction materials, such as plastics with particularly smooth surfaces that are nevertheless durable or the like.
- the traction element can be a traction chain or a traction cable.
- a traction cable in particular a wire cable, is currently preferred for implementing the invention.
- This can be a wire cable wound from a large number of wire strands, for example with strands made of steel, in particular stainless steel.
- the cable can be provided with a sheath, for example made of a plastic.
- the pull piece can be formed in two parts with a first pull piece section having the first longitudinal end and a second pull piece section having the second longitudinal end. These two pull piece sections can then be detachably connected to one another to form the pull piece. This can be done, for example, by means of a screw connection, wherein the first and second pull piece sections are each provided with a threaded piece and the threaded pieces are formed complementarily to one another, i.e. on the one hand as an external thread, on the other hand in the form of a threaded sleeve with an internal thread, so that they can be screwed together.
- This design allows the use of different second pull piece sections with differently designed cleaning sections together with one and the same first pull piece section, in order to be able to clean firearms of different calibers, for example with differently designed cleaning devices, in that a cleaning section adapted to the caliber is connected to the second traction piece section is connected to the first traction piece section.
- the second traction piece section is connected to the cleaning section via the rotatable coupling piece in order to be able to achieve the advantage and effect described above.
- the traction piece is formed as a traction cable
- the first traction piece section and the second traction piece section in particular each form traction cable sections, wherein the second traction piece section, i.e.
- the traction cable formed there, or the traction cable section can have a smaller diameter than the traction cable, or the traction cable section, in the first traction piece section.
- the first traction piece section can have a greater longitudinal extension than the second traction piece section, which can have a comparatively short length.
- the diameter of the handling section can advantageously be so small that it can be guided through the inside of the barrel of a firearm to be cleaned. Since the handling section serves to grip and apply a pulling force to guide the cleaning section and the felt element(s) arranged thereon through the barrel, it is advantageous if a means for applying the pulling force can also be attached to the handling section.
- a pulling eyelet can be formed in the handling section, into which a pulling means can be inserted, for example a pulling rod.
- this pulling rod oriented transversely to the longitudinal extent of the pulling piece, it is then easier to grip the first longitudinal end of the pulling piece in the area of the handling section and, by applying a pulling force, to pull the pulling piece and in particular the cleaning section arranged at the second longitudinal end of the pulling piece and the felt element(s) arranged thereon through the barrel to be cleaned and to maintain the cleaning effect.
- a retaining pin can advantageously be formed at a free longitudinal end, onto which one or more felt elements can be placed, whereby these felt elements then have a passage opening for receiving the retaining pin.
- the retaining pin advantageously has a retaining structure for retaining the felt element or the felt elements.
- Such a retaining structure can be formed, for example, by an external thread which has a thread diameter that is slightly larger than the opening diameter of the passage opening of the felt element, so that the felt element can be applied to this external thread and secured there by a screwing movement.
- an external thread can be formed at the end of the retaining mandrel and a fixing element can be provided which protrudes from the external thread and which fixes the felt element or the felt elements on the retaining mandrel.
- the external thread at the end typically has a smaller diameter than the retaining structure, for example a retaining structure in the form of an external thread on the adjoining section of the retaining mandrel on which the felt element or elements are secured.
- a further aspect of the invention lies in a set for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields.
- This set comprises a device designed according to the invention as described above for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, and also at least one felt element that can be attached to the cleaning section and is in particular cylindrical.
- a set comprises a plurality of such felt elements, wherein the felt element or elements advantageously have a central passage opening.
- the set according to the invention comprises several felt elements, these can each have the same diameter overall, i.e. can be designed for cleaning a firearm of a certain caliber, for example 9 mm caliber.
- felt elements with different diameters can also be present in the set in order to be able to clean barrels of firearms of different calibers with the set, for example barrels with 7 mm caliber on the one hand and 9 mm caliber on the other.
- the felt element(s) can in particular have a central through-opening, in particular running in a longitudinal direction of the felt element(s). With such a central through-opening, the felt elements can be placed on a retaining mandrel of a cleaning section of the device as described above, if such a retaining mandrel is formed.
- Another component of the set according to the invention can be a storage and transport container for accommodating the above-mentioned and possible other components of the set.
- a storage and transport container can, for example, be in the form of a plastic box that can be closed with a lid, a metal box or in the form of a textile bag or the like.
- Such a storage and transport container allows the other components of the set to be stored safely and easily and at the same time enables them to be carried around easily.
- a set according to the invention can furthermore, if the device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, is provided with a groove divided into two sections in a manner as described above, have at least two second groove sections provided with differently formed cleaning sections, which can optionally be detachably connected to the first groove section.
- differently formed cleaning sections can be provided, which are suitable for attaching felt elements for cleaning barrels with different calibers.
- cleaning sections with different cleaning elements can also be used.
- cleaning sections can also be provided which have wire brushes or similar cleaning elements, with which any stubborn deposits that may be present after intensive use of the firearm can be loosened and/or removed in a first cleaning step.
- the cleaning device according to the invention can be used to maintain and clean very different types of firearms, in particular handguns, such as pistols and revolvers, and long weapons, such as rifles, machine guns and the like. It is also conceivable that it can be used for weapons with a larger caliber, which can also be used in a carriage, such as machine guns mounted on combat vehicles or the like.
- the length of the pull piece will be such that it exceeds the length of the barrel to be cleaned to such an extent that the pull piece can be inserted into the barrel and exits again with the handling section at an end of the barrel opposite the insertion opening, for example the barrel muzzle, for example the cartridge chamber.
- the Fig.1 shows, in a schematic overall view, a possible design variant of a device 1 according to the invention for cleaning barrels, in particular barrels formed with grooves and fields, of firearms.
- the components or structures located in the sections designated II, III and IV are then shown in the Figs. 2, 3 and 4 enlarged again and shown with more clearly visible details.
- the cleaning device 1 firstly has a traction piece, which is formed here as a traction cable 2.
- This traction cable 2 can in particular be formed as a wire cable, in particular made of rust-proof stainless steel, in particular with a large number of wire strands twisted together.
- the traction cable 2 can also be provided with a plastic sheath, for example made of PVC, which sheath on the one hand protects the wire strands from possible damage, and on the other hand prevents the wire strands from coming into contact with the inside of the barrel.
- a plastic sheath is in turn easy to clean if the traction cable 2 becomes dirty after using the device 1.
- the traction cable 2 is formed in two sections 2, 3, which are detachably connected to one another by means of a screw coupling 5.
- the first section 3 of the traction cable 2 is formed with a larger diameter, for example, can have a diameter of 4 mm, than the second section 4 of the traction cable 2, where its diameter is, for example, 1.75 mm.
- the second section 4 of the traction cable 2, which can also be referred to as an adapter cable, is significantly shorter in its longitudinal extension than the first section 3 of the traction cable 2.
- this has a handling section 6 which, due to its design as explained in more detail below, serves to grip and apply a tensile force to the traction cable 2.
- a cleaning section 7 is fixed.
- This cleaning section 7, on which in any case a felt element, in particular one formed in a cylinder shape, for example a felt element such as that shown in the DE 2706886 A1 shown and described, is connected to the traction cable 2, here to the second section 4 of the traction cable 2, via a coupling piece which can be rotated about a longitudinal axis and which will be explained in more detail below.
- the freely rotatable coupling piece is rigidly and directly connected to the cleaning section 7 and that the traction cable 2, here its second section 4, only connects to the coupling piece and is thus rotationally decoupled from the cleaning section 7. This is because if rotational decoupling were provided at a different location, a piece of the traction cable 2 arranged between this element and the cleaning section 7 would continue to twist with the associated disadvantageous effects described above.
- the pull cable 2 By dividing the pull cable 2 into the two sections 3 and 4 as described above, which is possible in the embodiment shown here, it is possible in particular to exchange the second section 4, i.e. the adapter cable, with different cleaning sections 7 arranged thereon, in order to adapt the device 1 for a particular application, e.g. with regard to a caliber of the barrel of a firearm to be cleaned, by attaching the appropriate second section 4 to the first section 3 of the pull cable 2.
- the second section 4 i.e. the adapter cable
- the handling section 6 is now shown in an enlarged view.
- the handling section 6 can be seen with partially cut-out structures in order to illustrate further internal features.
- the handling section 6 is made up of a press sleeve 8 and a pulling eye piece 9, which are firmly connected to one another via a screw connection 10.
- the screw connection is fixed, for example by using screw locking varnish.
- the pulling cable, or more precisely its first section 3 is inserted into the press sleeve 8 with one longitudinal end and secured by pressing. The handling section 6 is thus firmly connected to the pulling cable.
- a bore 11 running transversely to the longitudinal direction is made in the pulling eye piece 9, through which a pulling means, for example a pulling rod, can be passed in order to obtain a handle for applying a pulling force to the handling piece 6 and thus to the pulling cable 2.
- a pulling means for example a pulling rod
- Such a pull rod can in particular be part of a set formed with the device 1 and the felt elements also to be used for cleaning.
- FIG.3 an enlarged view of the cleaning section 7 is shown.
- the coupling piece 12 can also be seen in particular.
- This coupling piece 12 is composed of two coupling parts, namely, on the one hand, a bushing 13, which is part of the cleaning section 7 and is firmly connected to its other components, and on the other hand, a cylinder nipple 14 which is accommodated in the bushing 13 so as to be freely rotatable about a longitudinal axis and which is firmly is connected to the second section 4 of the traction cable.
- a retaining mandrel 15 is also formed, which has a free end at a front end and is connected to a threaded pin 16 at the rear.
- This threaded pin 16 is firmly screwed to the bushing 13, in which a corresponding internal thread is formed.
- a screw locking varnish is introduced into the thread, so that the screw connection between the threaded pin 16 and the bushing 13 cannot be loosened without destructive force.
- the front end of the threaded pin 16 screwed into the bushing 13 maintains a distance from the cylinder nipple 14 so that the latter is not jammed or wedged.
- friction-reducing means can be used here, such as a ball or roller bearing. However, it may also be sufficient to achieve sufficient free rotation without such friction-reducing means.
- the Fig.3 once again clearly shows that the coupling piece 12 provided according to the invention is directly and rigidly connected to the cleaning section 7, is equally integrated into it, and that the adjoining traction piece in the form of the second section 4 of the traction cable is attached directly to the cleaning section 7 via the coupling piece 12 in a freely rotating manner.
- the retaining mandrel 15 has a retaining structure in the form of an external thread 17 in an area located towards its rear section, i.e. the threaded pin 16.
- One or more felt elements which have a central passage that is smaller in diameter than the external thread diameter of the external thread 17, can be screwed onto this external thread 17 and are thus already fixed to the retaining mandrel 15.
- a further safety feature is provided in the embodiment shown: At its free end, the retaining mandrel 15 has a threaded section 18 in which an external thread is also formed, but which has a smaller thread diameter than the external thread 17.
- a locking nut 19 is provided which can be screwed onto the threaded section 18 in order to secure the one or more felt elements applied to the retaining mandrel 15 and fixed to the external thread 17. If the cleaning device 1 is now used to clean a barrel of a firearm provided with grooves and fields, and for this purpose the pull cable 2 with the cleaning section 7 fixed to it at the end in the longitudinal direction is pulled through the barrel with one or more felt elements applied to the holding mandrel 15, then on the one hand the external thread 17 and also the screwed-on locking nut 19 prevent the felt element or the felt elements from slipping off the holding mandrel 15.
- FIG.4 an enlarged view shows the screw coupling 5, via which the first section 3 of the traction cable is detachably connected to the second section 4 of the traction cable. It can be seen that one end of the first section 3 of the traction cable is fixed in a rotationally fixed manner to a threaded sleeve 21 by means of a press piece 20. In a similar way, one end of the second section 4 of the traction cable is fixed in a rotationally fixed manner to a threaded pin 23 by means of a press piece 22.
- the threaded pin 23 has an external thread corresponding to an internal thread in the threaded sleeve 21, and by screwing the threaded pin 23 and the threaded sleeve 21 together, the screw connection between the two sections 3, 4 of the traction cable is established and the device 1 is thus formed in a form suitable for the respective application.
- the device 1 is adapted accordingly for cleaning.

Description
The invention relates to a device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and lands. It also relates to a set for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and lands.
It is known that the barrels of firearms become dirty as a result of their use, particularly when shots are fired. For example, residues of burnt propellant powder regularly remain on the inner surfaces of the barrel after the firearm has been fired. Possible residues of the projectile that has passed through the barrel when fired can also remain on the inner surfaces of the barrel. Such dirt and residues in the barrel can lead to a deterioration of the firearm. This can reduce the accuracy of the firearm. However, residues can also solidify and change the geometry of the barrel inside. Corrosion can also occur, particularly if residues remain in the barrel not only from the firing of the shot, but also if moisture and/or similar dirt penetrates the barrel from the outside, as can happen, for example, when the firearm is used outdoors and in rainy weather, humidity or in extreme situations in the field. This can be the case. Such contamination penetrating the barrel of a firearm from the outside occurs regardless of whether or not a shot was fired with the firearm during the respective use.
In order to prevent negative consequences for the firearm and its safe and precise use, and in particular to preserve the lifespan of the firearm, it is typically cleaned after use and before being properly stowed away.
The object of the invention is to remedy this situation and to provide a device for cleaning firearms of the type mentioned at the outset, which in particular enables an improved cleaning effect to be achieved.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, with the features of
According to the invention, a device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, has at least the following elements: an elongated pull piece that is flexible transversely to a longitudinal direction and has a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end; a handling section arranged at the first longitudinal end of the pull piece; and a rigidly formed cleaning section arranged at the second end of the pull piece, which is designed and configured such that it can receive and hold at least one felt element, in particular one that is cylindrical in shape.
With these features, the device claimed and disclosed here for cleaning the barrels of firearms basically corresponds to the devices of this kind known from the prior art with a flexible pull piece, which can be, for example, a pull rope or a pull chain. Such flexible pull pieces, which are rigid in the pulling direction in order to be able to transfer a pulling force directly to the cleaning section and the felt element or elements attached to it, have the particular advantage that they are easy to stow and store due to their flexibility transverse to the longitudinal direction. For example, they can be wound into loops placed on top of one another and stored in a box or case. They can thus be stored in a compact form or even carried personally. for example in the personal equipment of an armed force such as members of the police, security services or armed forces.
The special feature of the device according to the invention is that the cleaning section is connected to the tension piece via a coupling piece that can rotate freely about a longitudinal axis. The coupling piece is connected to the cleaning section in a rotationally fixed manner with a first coupling part and to the tension piece in a rotationally fixed manner with a second coupling part. The first and second coupling parts can rotate freely against each other about the longitudinal axis and the longitudinal axis is aligned with the longitudinal direction of the tension piece at its second longitudinal end. A rotationally fixed connection of the respective coupling part with the adjacent element includes a possible one-piece or one-part design as well as a fixed connection of two separately formed parts.
The design according to the invention thus creates the possibility for the cleaning section to rotate around the longitudinal axis relative to the traction piece, which means that when the traction piece and in particular the cleaning section with one or more felt elements arranged on it is pulled through, these felt elements follow the turns of the grooves and fields in the barrel to be cleaned and can rotate around the longitudinal axis without this rotation being transferred to the traction piece and causing an opposing counterforce in the opposite direction. As a result, the felt element or elements can freely follow the geometry of the inner surfaces of the barrel and achieve an optimal cleaning effect while remaining in close contact with this inner surface. The fact that the coupling piece is directly connected to the cleaning section, i.e. without even a section of the traction piece, which is flexible transversely to its longitudinal direction, being connected between the cleaning section and the coupling piece, prevents the rotation imposed on the felt element or elements when pulled through the barrel provided with grooves and fields from being transferred to the traction piece in a particularly effective manner.
As mentioned, the coupling piece is designed to be freely rotatable, i.e. it can basically rotate around its longitudinal axis without any angle limitation, and in principle it can also perform several such rotations, i.e. rotations of more than 360°. Ideally, the coupling piece is designed in such a way that this rotation capability is achieved with as little rotational resistance as possible, for example by using a ball or roller bearing or by using low-friction materials, such as plastics with particularly smooth surfaces that are nevertheless durable or the like.
As already mentioned, the traction element can be a traction chain or a traction cable. A traction cable, in particular a wire cable, is currently preferred for implementing the invention. This can be a wire cable wound from a large number of wire strands, for example with strands made of steel, in particular stainless steel. To protect the cable and its strands on the one hand, and the inner surfaces of the barrel for whose cleaning the device according to the invention is used on the other hand, the cable can be provided with a sheath, for example made of a plastic.
In a further possible and advantageous further development, the pull piece can be formed in two parts with a first pull piece section having the first longitudinal end and a second pull piece section having the second longitudinal end. This design allows the use of different second pull piece sections with differently designed cleaning sections together with one and the same first pull piece section, in order to be able to clean firearms of different calibers, for example with differently designed cleaning devices, in that a cleaning section adapted to the caliber is connected to the second traction piece section is connected to the first traction piece section. In this case, the second traction piece section is connected to the cleaning section via the rotatable coupling piece in order to be able to achieve the advantage and effect described above. If the traction piece is formed as a traction cable, the first traction piece section and the second traction piece section in particular each form traction cable sections, wherein the second traction piece section, i.e. the traction cable formed there, or the traction cable section, can have a smaller diameter than the traction cable, or the traction cable section, in the first traction piece section. In particular, the first traction piece section can have a greater longitudinal extension than the second traction piece section, which can have a comparatively short length.
Furthermore, the diameter of the handling section can advantageously be so small that it can be guided through the inside of the barrel of a firearm to be cleaned. Since the handling section serves to grip and apply a pulling force to guide the cleaning section and the felt element(s) arranged thereon through the barrel, it is advantageous if a means for applying the pulling force can also be attached to the handling section. For this purpose, a pulling eyelet can be formed in the handling section, into which a pulling means can be inserted, for example a pulling rod. With this pulling rod oriented transversely to the longitudinal extent of the pulling piece, it is then easier to grip the first longitudinal end of the pulling piece in the area of the handling section and, by applying a pulling force, to pull the pulling piece and in particular the cleaning section arranged at the second longitudinal end of the pulling piece and the felt element(s) arranged thereon through the barrel to be cleaned and to maintain the cleaning effect.
In order to be able to arrange and fix one or more felt elements on the cleaning section, a retaining pin can advantageously be formed at a free longitudinal end, onto which one or more felt elements can be placed, whereby these felt elements then have a passage opening for receiving the retaining pin. The retaining pin advantageously has a retaining structure for retaining the felt element or the felt elements. Such a retaining structure can be formed, for example, by an external thread which has a thread diameter that is slightly larger than the opening diameter of the passage opening of the felt element, so that the felt element can be applied to this external thread and secured there by a screwing movement. In order to further secure the felt element or elements applied to the retaining mandrel and held back by the retaining structure against accidental detachment from the retaining mandrel, an external thread can be formed at the end of the retaining mandrel and a fixing element can be provided which protrudes from the external thread and which fixes the felt element or the felt elements on the retaining mandrel. The external thread at the end typically has a smaller diameter than the retaining structure, for example a retaining structure in the form of an external thread on the adjoining section of the retaining mandrel on which the felt element or elements are secured.
A further aspect of the invention, as already explained, lies in a set for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields. This set comprises a device designed according to the invention as described above for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, and also at least one felt element that can be attached to the cleaning section and is in particular cylindrical. Typically, such a set comprises a plurality of such felt elements, wherein the felt element or elements advantageously have a central passage opening. If the set according to the invention comprises several felt elements, these can each have the same diameter overall, i.e. can be designed for cleaning a firearm of a certain caliber, for example 9 mm caliber. However, felt elements with different diameters can also be present in the set in order to be able to clean barrels of firearms of different calibers with the set, for example barrels with 7 mm caliber on the one hand and 9 mm caliber on the other.
The felt element(s) can in particular have a central through-opening, in particular running in a longitudinal direction of the felt element(s). With such a central through-opening, the felt elements can be placed on a retaining mandrel of a cleaning section of the device as described above, if such a retaining mandrel is formed.
Another component of the set according to the invention can be a storage and transport container for accommodating the above-mentioned and possible other components of the set. Such a storage and transport container can, for example, be in the form of a plastic box that can be closed with a lid, a metal box or in the form of a textile bag or the like. Such a storage and transport container allows the other components of the set to be stored safely and easily and at the same time enables them to be carried around easily.
A set according to the invention can furthermore, if the device for cleaning barrels of firearms, in particular those having grooves and fields, is provided with a groove divided into two sections in a manner as described above, have at least two second groove sections provided with differently formed cleaning sections, which can optionally be detachably connected to the first groove section. In this way, the flexibility in the use of the set according to the invention or a cleaning device formed with it is increased. For example, differently formed cleaning sections can be provided, which are suitable for attaching felt elements for cleaning barrels with different calibers. However, cleaning sections with different cleaning elements can also be used. For example, cleaning sections can also be provided which have wire brushes or similar cleaning elements, with which any stubborn deposits that may be present after intensive use of the firearm can be loosened and/or removed in a first cleaning step.
Of course, the cleaning device according to the invention can be used to maintain and clean very different types of firearms, in particular handguns, such as pistols and revolvers, and long weapons, such as rifles, machine guns and the like. It is also conceivable that it can be used for weapons with a larger caliber, which can also be used in a carriage, such as machine guns mounted on combat vehicles or the like. Of course, the length of the pull piece will be such that it exceeds the length of the barrel to be cleaned to such an extent that the pull piece can be inserted into the barrel and exits again with the handling section at an end of the barrel opposite the insertion opening, for example the barrel muzzle, for example the cartridge chamber.
Further advantages and features of the invention as well as further possible design variants emerge from the following description of a possible embodiment, which is shown in the attached figures, wherein individual features described in more detail below for the embodiment can also be combined independently of the described embodiment with design variants of a cleaning device according to the invention or of a set containing them, which are realized with a different form in the other features, as long as this is not excluded by an inseparable combination with other features explained for the embodiment described below.

The
In the embodiment shown, the

The retaining
