Abstract

Disclosed is a hygroscopic fiber which is a fiber comprising polyamide 56 resin, and has a ”MR of at least 3.0%. Further disclosed is a method for manufacturing a polyamide 56 fiber by a direct spin draw method in which: a polyamide 56 fiber discharged through a spinneret is cooled and solidified by cooling air; a spinning oil is deposited thereon and the fiber is stretched; and the fiber is taken up. The disclosed manufacturing method satisfies the following conditions: (1) The spinneret discharge line rate is between 14m/min and 30m/mm; (2) The product of the take up velocity and the draw ratio is between 3900 and 4500. Thus provided are a high added value hygroscopic fiber which has high moisture absorptivity without losing the strength, chemical resistant, and heat resistant characteristics of polyamides.
