Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a treatment device for animals, comprising a flat support, which are associated with a therapy device for generating treatment streams and at least one electrically connected to the therapy device electrode for coupling the treatment currents into the body of the animal.
  • such devices for performing electrotherapy have been known for some time. This is usually carried out on the human body, where ei ⁇ ner person to be treated, a plurality of electrodes attached on the skin, through which currents injected into the skin.
  • the high- tone therapy according to Dr. med. May, in the context of which a simultaneous frequency and amplitude modulation takes place, wherein fixed frequency responses are passed through in an increasing and a decreasing phase.
  • the resulting alternating muscle stimulation and muscle creation serves to treat the acted upon by the current muscle and nerve tissue.
  • the treatment methods used in humans can also be applied to animals, but there is usually the problem here of exposing the animal to a stress situation during therapy. While people know that through therapy a verb ⁇ provement of well-being will occur, the animals are nervous given the used equipment and cables that are also still attached directly to the body. In extreme cases, it may happen that the animal gets rid of the cables and if necessary breaks them down and destroys them. moreover As a result, there is no relaxation and therapy of the animal, but rather this brings it into a stress situation which is rather detrimental to its well-being than beneficial.
  • the present invention is based on the object to provide a treatment device which eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages in animals, in particular horses, in particular a therapy that does not bring the animal unnecessarily in a stress ⁇ on.
  • a treatment device comprises a sur fa ⁇ CHIGE support, for example in the form of a blanket, or horse blanket, said pad is directly associated with a therapy device.
  • the treatment device is suitable here both for the electrotherapeutic treatment of an animal including a colic treatment, or, exclusively in the execution as an emergency colic cover, only the colic treatment.
  • Two or more electrodes are connected to the therapy device, with the aid of which a treatment stream can be coupled into the body of the animal. Due to the combination of the treatment device with the animal known blanket the animal is during treatment ⁇ action in a familiar situation for the animal.
  • the therapy device will conduct one or more treatment currents via the electrodes into the body of the tissue .
  • the treatment streams follow the patterns given by suitable programming. Based on these patterns, a predetermined form of treatment, for example, a high-tone therapy especially for colic treatment, be performed.
  • the therapy device can be directly programmable for this purpose, so that the corresponding settings can be made directly on the therapy device.
  • a control unit that enables remote control of The ⁇ rapiemelds is possible. In practice, this may put the veterinarian or animal caretaker at the edge of an enclosure and control the therapy from there while the animal can move with the treatment apparatus in the enclosure in the usual way. It is also possible for a control device to have a plurality of therapy devices associated with it, so that the animal doctor or animal caretaker does not have to carry a separate control unit with him for each animal.
  • surface electrodes are particularly suitable, which are attached to the treatment device with particular advantage on the underside of the support by means of Velcro closure surfaces. Due to the Velcro attachment, it is ensured that the electrodes do not slip.

  • the ⁇ se cover strips are in a neutral color, preferably the color of the support kept, and along its longitudinal edge to the support, preferably sewn. Under the tab thus formed, the laid cables can be inserted who ⁇ , with the effect that they are no longer visible. Accordingly, it is also particularly useful if the cover strips are distributed along the usual laying paths on the support, in particular in each case directly from an eyelet to the therapy device.
  • the free edge of the cover strip can also be fastened for complete and secure covering of the cable, for example by further Velcro fasteners or snaps. Ideally, however, this second attachment of the cover strips should be releasable in the sense of a removability of the cables.

  • This supplies the therapy device with elekt ⁇ -driven energy.
  • Such a battery pack can, like the therapy device itself, be accommodated in side pockets of the support provided for this purpose, which are preferably mounted centrally on the support. The side pockets are mounted with Vor ⁇ part opposite each other, so that a uniform weight distribution is guaranteed.

This can be further improved in that fastening straps are provided on the support, with the help of which the support can be pulled tight on the animal. This has the particular advantage that the electrodes which are mounted below the support, pass into a flush, sur fa ⁇ speaking contact with the skin of the animal.
