Description

When screen printing with a printing machine, for example for the printing of banknotes using this method, one or more hollow cylinders are used whose lateral surface is made of a natural or synthetic fiber fabric. . A varnish is used to seal the mesh of the canvas that is not part of the image to be printed. The inside of the cylinder is fed with a printing ink and a scraper in contact with the inner surface of the fabric pushes this ink through the free mesh of the fabric. Usually, when the screen printing cylinder is set up on the machine, a first person stands at one end of the cylinder and introduces the doctor blade into the cylinder body. A second person stands at the other end of the cylinder and grabs the free end of the squeegee and with a combined action both people position the squeegee in its bearings. To remove the squeegee, two people do the opposite work. Therefore, both for the establishment and withdrawal of the doctor blade two people are needed. In addition there is a risk that the squeegee touches during these manipulations the canvas and destroy it. When removing the person who pulls the squeegee is obliged to take it at an intermediate point and automatically it is soiled by the ink.

The US5,592,313 proposes two solutions to avoid these manipulations. According to a first solution, a rail is integral with the doctor blade. The rail is engaged in a slide located at one end of the cylinder. The rail-doctor assembly is moved parallel to the axis of the cylinder until it reaches a second slide located at the other end of the cylinder. Subsequently the rail-doctor assembly is placed by vertical displacement on two pivoting bearings about a vertical axis or movable vertically. According to the second solution, the bearings are constituted by the two slides which move vertically for the setting in working position of the doctor blade.

The EP-A-0 463 699 also offers a solution for the installation and removal of particularly long squeegees. A mechanism with toothed wheels, belts and cranks allows the establishment and removal of an assembly comprising the doctor blade, a movable carriage and a guide. The fixing means (bearings) of the doctor blade are pivotally mounted around the doctor blade. The doctor blade rotates about its axis to position the angled inlet of the feed pipe of the doctor blade.

The present invention aims to provide a device for setting up and removing a doctor blade that is simple, manipulable by a single person while the bearings of the doctor blade are fixed.

The device according to the invention is characterized in that said slider is provided with assembly and disassembly means cooperating with conjugate means on the doctor blade to allow the doctor blade to be fixed on the slider or to withdraw the doctor blade from the slider in said first and second limit positions, and in that said slide is pivotally mounted on said support about an axis parallel to the axis of said cylinder so that, in said second limit position of the slide, the doctor blade can be placed in the working position respectively withdrawn from the working position by tilting of the slide assembly and slider around the axis.

The advantage of this device is the fact that only one person can set up the squeegee and remove it without the risk of damaging the canvas of the screen printing cylinder and without becoming soiled.

The device is simple and easy to put on site. Sizing and accurate positioning are necessary, but within the reach of the skilled person, so that the doctor blade is positioned in front of its working position and pivoting the slide and the slide is deposited on its bearings or removed. The positions of the squeegee bearings are fixed during these operations, no additional control or adjustment is necessary to ensure accurate positioning of the bearings.

In the dependent claims the technical characteristics of different elements of the device are claimed.

Thus, we choose a slide consisting of four pairs of rollers, the pebbles of each pair being superimposed and leaving enough space for the passage corresponding slider that is prisoner of this slide except for its displacement parallel to the axis of the cylinder. It is also possible to use a slide with rollers or ball bearings or even a slide without such elements but with greasy friction. Alternatively, the slide may be provided with means such as rollers, rollers or ball bearings while the slide may also be provided or not. The skilled person will choose according to the desired result and of course the dimensions and weight of the doctor blade and the slide.

L'invention sera décrite à l'aide du dessin annexéThe invention will be described with the aid of the attached drawing

The figure 1 is a partial schematic perspective view of the device according to the invention.

The figure 2 is a partial schematic perspective view of the device with the doctor blade before its introduction into the cylinder.

The figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of the slide with its support.

On the frame 1 of a machine (shown schematically and without the screen printing cylinder) a support 2 is fixed in the extension of the cylinder. On this support is mounted a pivoting slide 3 around a hinge 4. The slide comprises four pairs of rollers 5, 6, 7, 8, the rollers of each pair being superposed and spaced to allow a passage to the corresponding part of a slide 9 that will come between them. So, the slide 9 will be free only to move parallel to the axis of the cylinder.

The slider 9 consists of a profile bar T. The wings of the head of this profile engage in the spaces between the rollers of each pair 5 to 8 and the section 9 is held and guided by these rollers. On the foot of the profile two plates 11, 12 are fixed with a lug 10, 13 ( figure 2 ). These lugs collaborate with two notches 14, 15 in the form of a bayonet notch, located on the back of the blade 21 to ensure rapid assembly of the doctor blade 21 and the slide 9. Other similar means can be used to ensure the rapid assembly and disassembly of these two elements. The distal end of the slide 9 relative to the cylinder, is provided with two rods 16, 17 for gripping to manipulate the slide 9. These rods 16, 17 are perpendicular to the axis of the slide 9 and in this case form an angle of 180 °. They could also form an angle less than 180 °. Depending on the weight and dimensions of the slide assembly, scrape and slide a single rod may suffice. On the slide 9 an adjustable or non-adjustable end stop 19 ( figure 1 ) makes it possible to ensure the maximum permitted displacement of the slider towards the inside of the cylinder. A second stop (not shown) can be provided at the other end of the slider to prevent the slider 9 ( figure 2 ) accidentally leaves the slide 3 in the limit position for placing or removing the doctor blade 21 on the slide 9.

In order also to ensure lateral guidance of the slider 9, the slider may be provided with two or more additional rollers 22.

As illustrated in figure 1 , the support 2 with the slide 3 is fixed in the extension of the cylinder in the vicinity of one of the bearings (generally designated by the reference 20) intended to receive the doctor blade 21, but may also be fixed on the diametrically opposite point or a other, the essential being to ensure proper positioning of the doctor blade 21 relative to the bearings 20 during the introduction or withdrawal of the doctor blade 21.

Pour l'opération inverse aussi,The installation of the doctor blade 21 is as follows. The slide 9 is pulled out of the frame 1, its end being engaged and held in the slide 3 ( figure 2 ). The squeegee 21 is mounted on the slide by engaging the lugs 10, 13 in the notches 14, 15. Then, by grasping the rods 16, 17, the slide 9 is pushed inside the cylinder until the stop of the end of race 19, bringing the squeegee 21 to its working position. With the aid of two rods 16, 17, the slide assembly 3, slider 9 and doctor blade 21 are pivoted around the articulation 4 until the doctor blade is housed by its ends in the bearings provided on the frame. 1. Both ends of the doctor blade 21 are provided with two supports 23 having a specific shape and dimensions. These supports 23 are provided with adequate fastening means (not shown) allowing the operator to lock the blade 21 by its supports 23 in the bearings 20. The bearings 20 have a shape and conjugate dimensions allowing a correct and precise positioning of the squeegee. Each bearing 20 comprises in particular a housing 20a (partially visible in the figure 1 ) whose shape and dimensions substantially correspond to the shape and dimensions of the supports 23 of the doctor blade 21. The two bearings 20 are fixed on the frame 1 and do not move during the implementation operations or removal of the doctor blade. The pins are disengaged by continuing the pivoting and by pulling a few centimeters outwards the slide 9, the slide assembly 3, slide 9 is pivoted in the opposite direction and the slide 9 is pulled outwards. During the printing work the slide 9 is completely withdrawn from the slide 3, the doctor blade 21 being held in its bearings 20 by means of the supports 23. To remove the doctor blade 21 is practically the opposite work. After having unlocked the supports 23 of the bearings 20, the slide 9 is pushed to the stop 19, the slide assembly 3 is pivoted, and the pins 10, 13 are engaged in the notches 14, 15 and pivoted in the opposite direction and pulling out the slide with the doctor blade 21. The time required for placing the doctor blade on the slide and its implementation in the bearings and removal of the slide a few seconds are enough for one person. For the reverse operation too,

As mentioned above, both the slide 3, the slide 9 and the rapid assembly means can be modified without departing from the scope of the invention.

According to a preferred variant of the invention and to ensure precise positioning of the doctor blade, a second support with an articulated slide identical to the elements already described, are fixed at the other end of the frame of the machine. Thus, the end of the slide before the end of its stroke engages in the second slide ensuring a stable tenuous assembly of the slide assembly and scrapes for the introduction or removal of the doctor blade.
