Definitions
- the present invention relates exclusively to the field of mail processing and it relates more particularly to the feeders of documents.
- Power modules for processing machines are well known.
- these feeders In addition to the pick and pick rollers documents and transport rollers, these feeders all have a system for ensuring proper positioning of mail items in view of their entry by the selection and document picking rollers. This positioning can be done from the back of the mail item, such as shows it the American patent US 5,203,263 of the company Ascom and in which appears in Figure 1, a rear jogging device 16. It can also be done from the side.
- American patent US 4,956,782 of the Pitney company Bowes discloses a mail processing package, the module of which supply comprises a lateral jogging device 53 for pressing the mail items against a referencing wall 59.
- the rear jogger generally slides in a groove longitudinal, parallel to the running direction of the articles of mail while the side lacquering device usually slides in a transverse groove, perpendicular to this direction of travel and to the reference wall of these articles.
- the present invention relates to a jogging device for document feeder of a mail processing machine that allows a suitable jogging of articles of small as of large formats, with rear and side jogging elements of reduced bulk.
- a goal of the invention is also to achieve this positioning quickly and in facilitating the extraction of the lower articles (compared to a stack of articles of mail).
- Another object of the invention is to allow taking into account non-standard large format mail items, including a format larger than the width of the feeder.
- a jogging device for a feeder a mail processing machine comprising a first stop movable rear jogging in a direction of travel of the articles of mail and a second movable lateral jogging stop in one direction perpendicular to this direction of travel, each lacquer stop can be moved in a respective groove, characterized in that the groove associated with said rear jogging stop is inclined at an angle a determined with respect to said direction of travel of the mail items, so that said rear jogging stop remains substantially centered on the mail article regardless of the format of this article.
- the rear jogging stop has a wedge shape with at least two successive slopes, a first slope with reduced inclination and a second slope with strong inclination, and preferably at three slopes with an additional slope at intermediate inclination average.
- the first slope at a reduced inclination provides support for mail items while the second steep incline facilitates one by one extraction (delamination) of these items.
- the rear jogging stop may also include a mark intended to be aligned with one of several markers beforehand engraved on the platform for receiving mail and corresponding items each in a standard format of mail items.
- This marking It is thus possible to ensure rapid positioning of the rear stop depending on the stack of mail items to be positioned on the platform.
- She can also have two template labels that identify two thicknesses threshold of mail items each corresponding to a determined feeder adjustment operation. By this configuration of marking, a simple visual detection of thickness in relation to these two thresholds identified are sufficient to adjust this feeder in order to process batches of articles mail of the corresponding thickness range.
- the rear jogging stop comprises a lower spar provided with at least one elastic element intended to cooperate with a cavity formed in the longitudinal groove, of so as to define a stop position for this stop.
- the lateral jogging stop slides in its groove lateral associated via a slide.
- the lateral jogging stop includes a lower spar provided with least a first elastic element intended to cooperate with a cavity practiced in said slide, so as to define a stop position for this stop, and the slide is provided with at least one second elastic element intended to cooperate with a cavity formed in the transverse groove, of so as to define a stop position for this slide.
- the second elastic element has less elasticity than the first elastic element.
- the lateral jogging stop can include a system for automatically adjusting its positioning, depending on the width of the mail item, comprising at least one sensor position and / or pressure fixed on an end part of the stop side jogging to control under the action of a control circuit the displacement of a drive motor.
- this system of automatic adjustment can also include a calibrated spring system to maintain a substantially constant optimal clearance between an end portion of the side jogging stopper and a stack of mail items referenced on the wall.
- FIG 1 illustrates in perspective a module for receiving articles mail from a document feeder of a processing machine mail.
- This module 10 is arranged upstream of a selection module comprising pick-up rollers for such mail articles (see for example Figure 3).
- It conventionally comprises a platform 12 on which are stacked mail items, a reference wall 14 which closes a side of the platform and which defines a scrolling direction for the articles of mail, and a lacquering device for jogging the stack of mail items thus formed against the reference wall.
- This jogging device comprises a first jogging stop rear 16 movable in the running direction of the mail items and a second lateral jogging stop 18 movable in a direction perpendicular to this direction of travel.
- Each jogging stopper can be moved in a respective groove 20, 22 made in the platform 10.
- the groove 20 of the rear jogging stop 16 is inclined with respect to the direction of scrolling of the mail items, by a angle determined so that the rear tack remains substantially centered on the small dimension of mail items, whatever the format of these (see in particular Figure 3 which shows the positioning of these stops for a minimum format (Fmini) and a maximum format (Fmaxi) admissible by the device).
- the inclination angle ⁇ of the groove is determined by proceeding as follows: First, we optimize the volume of the rear jogging stop 16 in the extreme positions front (in relation to the scrolling of the articles), rear and side jogging, corresponding to articles of the minimum format (F mini), then from these extreme jogging positions, we identify and mark the different positions that the middle part of the rear jog stopper can occupy, respectively for different standardized formats of mail items, then we optimize the inclination ⁇ of the groove of the rear jogging stop by drawing a line that passes closest to all positions previously mentioned.
- rear and lateral jogging stops have volumes minimum space required to occupy the extreme forward jogging position, one against the other, in their respective grooves, compatible with the minimum format (F mini) admissible by the mail processing machine, know the format of the business card (position in dotted lines in Figure 3).
- the width of the rear jogging stopper is preferably substantially equal to that of a business card.
- the rear jogging stop 16 has a form of shim at least two successive slopes, one with reduced inclination 160 and the other with inclination strong 162, providing proper positioning of the stack of articles mail and necessary for an effective extraction of these articles in front support, supported and raised at the rear, respectively for thick bundles important and weak.
- this stop has the shape of a wedge to three successive slopes.
- Its upper part with medium inclination 164 serves to support the weight of the stack of items that leans on it.
- Its middle part at steep tilt 162 loosens the stack and like the upper part, allows keep the articles in front support in order to facilitate the selection of the article lower by the feeder take-up rollers.
- Its low tilting part reduced 160, called heel allows to maintain the efficiency of the selection. It continues to improve the departure of articles because, when the pile "collapses" with a decreasing bundle thickness, the articles remain in contact before with a reduced tilt angle but kept relative to the platform reception 12 and the selection rollers.
- the reception platform 12 includes a plurality of engraved marks 24, 26, 28 capable of alignment with a mark 30 on the jogging stop rear 16, for rapid positioning of the latter as a function of predetermined formats of standard mail items.
- the first benchmark 24 corresponds to a French C6 / 5 format
- the second mark 26 to a American format type No. 10 (242 mm x 105 mm)
- the third mark 28 to a French C4 format.
- This stop also has on its lateral face opposite the reference wall 14 two template labels 32, 34 which identify two threshold thicknesses of mail items (for example 8 and 16 mm) corresponding to two operations for adjusting the selection rollers located downstream and illustrated in Figure 3.
- FIG. 4 illustrates the means for moving the jogging stop rear 16 in its groove 20.
- the stop comprises a spar lower 36 in the shape of an “inverted T” provided with at least one tab or blade flexible 38 and intended to cooperate slidingly with suitable play with this groove of complementary shape.
- This elastic element which ensures a catching up of this lateral play during sliding can cooperate with a cavity 40 made in the groove 20 and intended to define a stop position, substantially at its open end, for the jogging stop back.
- This lateral stop comprises a lower beam 42 also in the form of an “inverted T” and provided with at least a first flexible tab or blade 44, this spar being mounted on a slide 46 in the shape of a "U” itself provided with at least one second tab or flexible blade 48 and in which it can slide, and which slides itself in the transverse groove 22 for side jogging.
- the first elastic element 44 ensures that the lateral clearance is taken up when the side member 42 slides in the slide 46, the vertical clearance being taken up by a spring leaf 50 placed on the bottom of this slide.
- first cavity 52 formed in the slide 46 and intended to define a stop position of the spar, substantially at the front end thereof (the most close to the reference wall and corresponding to the blind end of the groove 22), for the lateral jogging stop.
- the second elastic element 48 provides lateral play catch-up when sliding the slide 46 in the transverse groove 22. It also cooperates with a second cavity 54 made in the groove 22 and intended to define a position for stopping the slide, substantially at the open end of the groove, for the lateral jogging stop.
- This second element has a lower elasticity as the first elastic element 44 in order to allow displacement spar and groove differential.
- An interesting alternative embodiment not illustrated consists in providing the lateral jogging stop 18 of an automatic sound adjustment system positioning according to the width of the mail item, using example of at least one position and / or pressure sensor fixed on the part end of the lateral jogging stop or on the platform, control circuit and a drive motor. Pressure thresholds would refine the jogging command, for example by reversing this jogging stopper of a few tenths of a millimeter after reaching a maximum allowable threshold pressure.
- a more economical implementation may include a spring system calibrated to maintain a substantially constant optimum support between the part end of the stop and the stack of articles referenced on the wall.
