Description

The invention relates to a movable contact arrangement for a low-voltage circuit breaker with a plurality of contact levers arranged in parallel, which can be pivoted about an articulation, and with movable contact pieces attached to the latter, which interact with stationary contact pieces, and with an insulating partition for the shielding body having the contact lever.

A contact arrangement of this type is known from US-A-4,672,157. The purpose of arranging a plurality of contact levers in parallel is to distribute high currents over a number of contact transition points. The partitions of the shielding body help to ensure the uniform distribution of the total current despite the small distance between the adjacent contact levers.

Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to increase the resilience of such a contact arrangement by means of improved cooling. Furthermore, the dwell of switching arcs on the contacts should be restricted as far as possible in order to counteract wear of the contacts and thus an increase in the contact resistance.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least some of the partitions are provided on both sides with projections for local support of adjacent contact levers against one another, leaving gaps. This ensures that air can flow continuously between the contact levers, which heat up considerably during operation, and cool the contact levers.

On a part of the partition walls of the shielding body, a receiving area delimited by wall parts can also be provided for the engagement of a drive device serving to pivot the contact lever. This arrangement permits the coupling of the drive device while largely maintaining the gaps between the contact levers created for cooling.

Bei dieser Anordnung grenzt jeweils eine Seitenfläche jedes Kontakthebels an einen der geschaffenen Zwischenräume an.Depending on the intended load capacity of the contact arrangement, it may be sufficient for the shielding body to have alternatingly continuous partition walls and partition walls provided with projections and for at least two of the partition walls provided with projections additionally to have a receiving area. In this arrangement, one side surface of each contact lever is adjacent to one of the gaps created.

On its side covering the underside of the contact levers, the shielding body can have an angled gas-emitting protective web and an additional transverse web extending at a distance from the underside of the contact levers, directly after the movable contact pieces. Gases are released from the protective web when heated by the arcs that occur on the contact pieces during switching. The gas formation causes the arcs to be driven away by the contacts and the contact pieces are therefore only exposed to the arc for a short time. This helps to reduce the wear of the contact pieces and to keep the contact resistance between the contact pieces low. As a result, the heating of the entire contact arrangement is less during operation. Characterized in that there is a transverse web arranged at a distance from the underside of the contact lever on the protective web of the shielding body, the entry of the air into the spaces between the contact levers is facilitated. This improves the cooling effect.

The invention is explained below with reference to the embodiment shown in the figures.

Die Figur 1 ist eine Seitenansicht einer Kontaktanordnung mit mehreren parallel angeordneten Kontakthebeln und mit einem Abschirmkörper.FIG. 1 is a side view of a contact arrangement with a plurality of contact levers arranged in parallel and with a shielding body.

In der Figur 2 ist eine Draufsicht der Kontaktanordnung gemäß der Figur 1 gezeigt.FIG. 2 shows a top view of the contact arrangement according to FIG. 1.

Figures 3 and 4 show a shielding body in a plan view and in a side view.

The contact arrangement shown in FIG. 1 and designated as a whole by 2 is part of a circuit breaker, for example a low-voltage circuit breaker of compact design with a molded-plastic housing (MCCB). The contact arrangement 2 is opened and closed by touching and separating contact pieces 10 and 12, of which several pairs are provided, in order to limit the stress on each individual pair of contact pieces 10 and 12 to a certain extent. Starting from a fixed connecting rail 14, the contact arrangement 2 comprises a current-transmitting joint arrangement 16 with a pivot axis 4 and a number of contact levers 18, each of which is provided with a contact piece 10. Starting from the position of the parts according to FIG. 1, the contact pieces 10 can be brought into contact with the fixed contact pieces 12, which are attached to a further fixed connecting rail 6, by pivoting the contact lever 18 about the pivot axis 4 in the clockwise direction.

The parallel arrangement of the contact levers 18 can be seen in FIG. 2. In total, there are ten contact levers 18 in the example shown, which are held at a mutual distance by a shielding body 20 connected to the contact levers 18. The shielding body 20 is a molded plastic part with partitions 26 and 28. Here, the partitions 26 are flat, so that the contact lever 18 abut them directly. The partition walls 28, on the other hand, are provided with projections 22 in such a way that spaces 30 are created between the adjacent contact levers 18 and the partition wall 28 located therebetween, through which air can flow.

Two of the partitions 28 also have receiving areas 24 delimited by wall parts, which are provided for the engagement of drive parts of a drive device in order to pivot the contact levers 18 for switching on and off.

On the basis of FIGS. 1 and 4, the side view of the shielding body 20 can be seen that on the underside of the shielding body 20 there is a transverse web 32, which extends over all the contact levers 18 and extends at a distance from the underside of the contact lever 18, and another, the contact pieces 12 adjacent gas-emitting protective web 34 is provided. The protective web 32 abuts in part on the underside 36 of the contact lever 18 and supports it in such a way that it is moved evenly when pivoted. The space between the underside of the contact lever 18 and the crosspiece 32, which can be seen in particular in FIG. 1, facilitates the access of the air into the spaces 30 and thus improves the cooling of the contact arrangement 2. The gas-emitting protective web 34 prevents an arc from running along the lower edge 36 of the contact lever. Furthermore, the emission of gases from the plastic of the shielding body 20 under the influence of arcs at the contacts 10 and 12 causes the arc to be rapidly moved away from the contacts 10 and 12 in the direction of an arcing horn and an arc quenching chamber located upstream thereof.

The shielding body 20 can consist of an insulating, heat-resistant and gas-releasing gas under the influence of arcs Material. Such a material is appropriate to ensure the desired strength of the shielding body 20 and also to cause the gas to be emitted when there is strong heating by an arc.

The arrangement shown can be modified in many ways without deviating from the inventive concept. For example, the shielding body can be designed so that it can be used with a different number of contact levers. in addition, the receiving areas could be given an adapted shape depending on the drive device provided. The spaces provided for the passage of air can be dimensioned in accordance with the desired cooling effect. The crossbar 32 can also be provided with incisions to facilitate air access.
