Definitions

  • the present invention relates to wristwatches. It relates more particularly to those of the type comprising a bracelet, a box which includes a middle part and strap fasteners and bars for assembling the bracelet to the box.
  • the middle part is provided with side walls, two of which are opposite, each carrying at least one of the fasteners which extends over the lower part of the wall, in the thickness of the middle part and towards the outside of the case.
  • the bracelet covers the fasteners.
  • the box has, attached to the middle and in opposition, two sets of two horns, in place of strap attachments.
  • Each of the ends of the bracelet is provided with a loop inside which a bar is engaged, the latter being retained by the engagement of its ends in holes made in the horns.
  • This solution is well suited to watches whose bracelet, by its appearance and by the material which constitutes it, contrasts with the case. This is particularly the case for watches fitted with a leather strap.
  • the bracelet is made of a first lower layer, made of a flexible material, and of a second, upper layer, made of stainless steel.
  • the middle has, above the horns, grooves inside which engage the ends of the bracelet.
  • Such a solution leads to an excess thickness of the box and an increase in its length due to the projections forming the grooves.
  • the bracelet described is replaced by a flexible bracelet, loops at each of its ends, the visible grooves are unsightly and a source of attachment.
  • the bracelet has its curved end to match the external shape of the middle part. However, it does not cover the fasteners formed by two pairs of horns. This results in greater mobility of the end of the bracelet, which necessarily implies a space between the middle part and the bracelet, at least in certain positions of the latter. The integration of the bracelet into the box is therefore only very partially resolved.
  • the object of the present invention is to produce a wristwatch in which the bracelet and the box give the impression of being made in one piece; the box can also be worn with a flexible strap, of the type comprising a loop at the ends linked to the box, without the aesthetics of the watch being affected.
  • the bracelet is made of metal and comprises links whose thickness is substantially equal to the space between the fasteners and the upper part of the side faces.
  • the upper face of the bracelet is in continuity with the upper face of the middle part, thus giving the impression of integration of the bracelet into the case. Furthermore, when the metal bracelet is replaced by a flexible bracelet, the aesthetics of the watch is in no way affected.
  • This wristwatch does not have bars to assemble the bracelet to the box, but two flanges and tabs provided on either side of the frame in the flange area and which are joined by screws at the bottom, the end frame side of the bracelet having its thin end part engaged under pressure on the frame flange after tightening the screws. Furthermore, the thickness of the bracelet is not substantially equal to the space between the bottom of the flange and the upper edge of the frame and therefore does not suggest the technical means implemented by the invention as a solution to particular problem discussed here.
  • the watch case 1 has opposite side walls 2, 3 provided with strap fasteners 4, 5 capable of ensuring, in a manner known per se, the attachment to the box of ends of the two strands of a flexible bracelet by means of spring bars 14, 15 engaged in the fasteners 4, 5 in the immediate vicinity of the side walls 2 and 3.
  • immediate vicinity is meant a sufficiently small distance from these walls to that the gap formed between the box and the bar can be substantially filled by the passage from the end of a strand of flexible bracelet.
  • the fasteners 4, 5 can form both horns between which the bars will be mounted as well as these cover-handles on either side of which the ends of these bars will project.
  • the advantage of this configuration is that it allows the installation, over the fasteners 4, 5, of a metal strap which masks these fasteners, as well as the means of fixing the strap to these fasteners, and also to define the inclination of the strap portion connecting to the box by resting on the surfaces 6, 7.
  • FIG 2 there is shown a watch according to the invention, equipped with the box of Figure 1 and a metal strap whose end 12 of one of the strands has been symbolized by the links 13.
  • This end 12 contiguous with the wall 3, bears on the upper surface 7 of the fastener 5.
  • It is secured to the bar 15 removably by means of at least one connecting piece 16.
  • the connecting piece 16 has preferably a section comprising an annular part surrounding the bar 15 and extended by a rectilinear part 17 which projects in the direction of the side wall 3, and which is secured to the underside of the end 12, for example by welding, between the fasteners 5. In this way the dimensions of the connecting piece 16 are reduced to a minimum, and the bracelet can be fixed to the box despite the small distance provided between the bar 15 and the side wall.
  • the upper surface of the latter is protected from any contact with the metal bracelet by means of protective pads 18, glued for example to the underside of the links 13, opposite the fasteners 5.
  • Figure 3 shows the watch case of Figure 1 with a flexible strap.
  • the end of the strands such as the strand 20 forms a loop passing between the side wall 3 of the box 1 and the bar 15.
  • Figures 4 and 5 show the general appearance in top view of the watch case of Figure 1 provided with a metal strap and a flexible strap respectively. It can thus be seen that the invention makes it possible to produce a watch provided with a perfectly integrated metal strap and, with the same case, a watch provided with a flexible strap, without, however, the aesthetics of one or the other. another of these watches suffers.
  • a metal bracelet can be fixed to the box in the same way as previously, by simply providing connecting pieces adapted to come and wrap around the portions of the bars included on either side, ie horns. central 21 or handle covers 22.
