技术领域

背景技术

在汽车的驾驶员正在使用所说的无线电话时在无线电话中感测所发射的信号;和
一旦感测到所说的发射的信号限制汽车的驾驶员使用所说的无线电话。

具体实施方式
参考附图1,提供了汽车10的一部分的侧视图,在汽车10中驾驶员11正使用无线电话12。附图2所示为相同元件的分解顶视图。使用常规的(在10英尺以内)红外***。源或发射器14在驾驶员的头部上发射窄束IR信号,驾驶员的头部通常是在距发射器14的2至5英尺内。在该点上窄束需要在直径上不超过2英尺。无线电话12具有IR端口13,发射器14通过该端口可以将数据播送给电话。应该注意的是这种IR通信端口在上文所提到的大多数的当前可购买的无线通信的个人掌上装置或PDA中已经存在。

这种IR端口详细描述在Personal Computer Secrets(Bobo’Donnell,IDG Books Worldwide Inc.,Foster City,CA,1999,page 215)中。IR信号应该符合至少1.15Mbps(但可取的是大约4Mbps(FastIrDA))的IrDA(Infrared Data Association)标准。可作为端口12的IR端口在无线掌上型装置中的作用进一步描述在How to Do Everything with Your Palm Handheld(Dave Johnson等人,2000,Osborne/McGraw-Hill,Berkeley,CA,特别是pp.84-90)中。
在蜂窝电话12正在使用时,IR端口13接通。如下文更加详细地描述,在汽车中的计算机控制***监视汽车的速度以感测汽车何时超过预先设定的水平,在该水平上确定使用蜂窝电话会出现危险。合理的默认值是零速度,即在任何速度下使用蜂窝电话都是不安全的。在这种情况下,如果车辆正在运动,则发射器14将在窄束IR束15内发射信号,该信号将在警告和较短的延迟之后或立即切断蜂窝电话。

现在,参考附图4,描述可以作为用于各种自动功能(包括在运动的汽车中无线电话的使用的控制)的汽车车载控制器的典型计算机控制***。提供中央处理单元30并通过***总线32互连到各种其它的部件。在处理器30上运行的操作***35提供控制并用于协调控制***的各种部件的功能。OS35存储在随机存取存储器(RAM)31中,在典型的汽车控制***中该随机存取存储器具有四至八兆字节的存储器。用于各种汽车监视器和控制功能的程序现在永久地存储在只读存储器(ROM)33中,并移到RAM中和移出RAM以执行它们的相应的功能。这包括本发明的蜂窝电话使用控制程序。汽车可能具有通过显示适配器42控制的显示器43以给驾驶员提供信息。车辆控制***通过经相应的I/O适配器36和37连接到处理器30的有代表性的传感器/监视器36和37监视各种各样的汽车参数。处理这种感测的数据并通过适配器45发布适当的响应控制信号。在本发明的操作中,在控制***通过监视器获得反馈:车辆速度已经超过使用蜂窝电话的预定的最大值时,则通过IR适配器40经过IR发射器44发送适当的停止电话IR信号,通过在附图1中的无线电话12的IR端口13接收该信号。
现在参考附图5描述根据本发明的示例性控制程序的运行。起先,在步骤50设定在汽车中可使用的蜂窝电话的最大速度。让我们假设在此通过制造商所设定的默认的最大速度是比零更大的任何速度。然而,可以给用户或控制蜂窝电话使用的任何管理机构提供调节这种默认的最大速度的功能。在步骤51开始确定是否在使用蜂窝电话。如果NO,则过程返回到初始步骤51,在步骤51中等待蜂窝电话的使用。如果在步骤51中确定为YES,则正在使用蜂窝电话,则在步骤52进一步确定是否已经超过了对于这种使用的最大速度。如果NO,在程序返回到步骤52,在步骤52中继续监测速度。如果YES,则已经超过了最大速度,则在步骤53中,进一步确定当前的电话通话是否是紧急通话。如上文所阐述,允许用户列表并存储一组紧急号码比如911、EMS和消防队。在通过该***取消通话之前将该通话与这个列表进行比较。因此,确定结果YES将会将该程序返回到步骤53,在步骤53中监测紧急通话直到结束。如果步骤53的确定结果为NO,则没有紧急通话,则在步骤54警告用户在预定数量的秒钟之后将终止该通话。警告可以是通过蜂窝电话的常规的口头警告,例如“这次通话将在15秒钟内终止,除非停车”。
这种警告以及终止通话可以简单而直接地完成,例如在超过使用电话的最大速度时,不管是否使用蜂窝电话都发送IR束。然后,如果在使用蜂窝电话,则启动在电话中的IR端口,并通过在电话中的程序实施延迟以及终止通话。这种简单的方法对于在任何速度下不使用蜂窝电话的情况的操作是有效的。因此,如果汽车正在运行,则发送IR信号。在汽车的计算机***内不需要任何设置输入和控制。然而,如果要实施任何类型的最大速度控制,则理想的是在控制速度设置、警告、延迟超时和通话的终止的蜂窝电话中具有程序。在这种操作中,汽车的计算机控制***将汽车的速度编码为在蜂窝电话中可解码的束状的IR信号并与已经编码在蜂窝电话中的最大速度进行比较。结果启动适当的警告和终止。通过在蜂窝电话中完成这种编程,蜂窝电话服务提供商将能够更新蜂窝电话固件(例如高速ROM)以改变所允许的最大速度。这种方法也使得服务商通过在蜂窝网络上简单地发送新的运行参数能够在不同的城市或国家提供不同的最大速度。
然后在步骤55确定延迟周期是否已经超时。NO将该过程返回到步骤55,在步骤55等待超时。YES切断蜂窝电话并且该过程返回到初始步骤51,在步骤51等待另一次使用蜂窝电话。
在蜂窝电话使用控制的变型方案中,对于在高于最大速度的速度下使用电话,他的蜂窝电话服务提供商以非常高的费率向用户收费。在附图5中以虚线示出了在已经超过了最大速度的步骤52中YES确定之后的这种选择。没有切断蜂窝电话但在步骤57中记录了在超过最大速度的速度下的时间,并在步骤58将该时间提供给服务提供商以用于记账的目的,并且该过程返回到步骤52,在步骤52中继续监视速度以确定它是否继续超过最大的速度。

Claims (13)

1.一种限制在运动的汽车中使用无线电话的汽车计算机控制***,包括:
感测汽车的速度何时超过预定的速度的无线装置;
感测所说的汽车的驾驶员何时在使用所说的无线电话的装置;和
在所说的汽车的速度超过所说的预定的速度时响应两个所说的感测装置限制所说的汽车的所说的驾驶员对所说的无线电话的所说的使用的装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的限制在运动的汽车中使用无线电话的汽车计算机控制***,进一步包括:
在汽车的速度超过预定的速度时在所说的汽车中朝汽车的驾驶员发射信号的装置;
在所说的汽车的驾驶员正在使用所说的无线电话时在所说的无线电话中感测所说的发射的信号的装置;和
一旦感测到所说的发射的信号响应所说的感测装置以限制所说的汽车的所说的驾驶员所说的使用所说的无线电话的装置。
3.如权利要求1所述的汽车计算机控制***,其中在所说的汽车中发射所说的信号的所说的装置发射红外信号。
4.如权利要求2所述的汽车计算机控制***,其中在所说的无线电话上感测所说的发射的信号的所说的装置包括红外信号感测装置。
