Abhandlung über Anthracene and Anthraquinone by E. der Barry, Barnett, London 1921, page 207).
Färbebeispiel A
EMI5.1
in 290 Teilen Wasser gelöst, zugegeben.
EMI5.3
in 200 Teilen Wasser gelöst, versetzt.
EMI5.4
färbt Polyacrylnitril in rubinroten Tönen.
EMI6.2
gelöst in 400 Teilen Wasser zufliessen.

Azoverbindungen der Benzol- und Napthalinreihe, wie z. B.: 4-Methylpltenol, 4-tert, Butylphenol, 2-Methoxy-5-methylanilin, N-Äthylanilin, 2,5-dimethoxy-N-äthylanilin;

Process for the production of basic dyes
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of basic dyes of the formula
EMI1.1
where A is the remainder of an azo dye free from carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups, Y is an optionally substituted methylene group or a two or more bonded to the adjacent N via such a group.

EMI1.2
in which B denotes the residue of an intermediate product which can be converted into an azo dye residue A which, if necessary, can form a heterocyclic ring system together with y, the adjacent N and Rt, is converted into an azo dye by normal coupling.
Particularly suitable azo dyes are mono-, dis- or polyazo dyes; they can contain coordinatively bonded metal atoms. They include, for example, benzene-azo-benzene, benzene-azo-naphthalene, benzene-azo-pyrazolone, benzene-azo-acylessigsäurearylamid-, benzene-azo-phenol, benzene-azo-benzene-azo-phenol, Thiazole-azo-benzene, thiadiazole-azo-pyrazolone, pyridine-azo-indole or quinoline-azo-benzene series.
Suitable substituents in these are preferably those which are customary in acetate silk and polyester dyes, e.g. B. halogen atoms or cyano, nitro or hydroxyl groups or optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy,
Alkylsulfonyl,
Alkoxycarbonyl,
Alkylcarbonyloxy,
Carboxamide or
Sulfonic acid amide groups.
The azo coupling is carried out in a known manner, advantageously in a weakly alkaline to acidic, optionally buffered, medium.
Anion X is understood to mean both organic and inorganic ions, such as, for. B.
Methyl sulfate,
Sulfate-,
Disulfate,
Perchlorate
Chloride-,
Bromide-,
Iodide,
Phosphomolybdate,
Phosphotungsten molybdate,
Benzenesulfonate or 4-chlorobenzenesulfonate ions.
An optionally substituted methylene group or a divalent or trivalent radical bonded to the adjacent N via such a group are preferably suitable as bridge member y, e.g. B.

However, y can also form an iflerocyclic ring system together with Rt and the neighboring nitrogen atom, so that ring groupings such as:
EMI3.1
can arise.
Such compounds are obtained in batches by reacting a compound of the formula
EMI3.2
Such ring groupings can for example be connected to A via an intermediate member V and then correspond to a grouping of the formula
EMI3.3
wherein X stands for N or cH, the indicated ring, when X stands for CH, can also contain other heteroatoms, where V can mean part of the bridge member y.
But they can also be formed from v, R1, the neighboring N atom and A, if z. B. the tertiary N atom in the formula (XIII) is a component of A, for example in compounds of the formula
EMI3.4
where D is the remainder of a diazo component, and K can carry further substituents.
However, Rj and R2 can also form a heterocyclic ring system together with the neighboring N without y, i.e. z. B. a pyrrolidine or piperazine ring, or an ethyleneimine group, etc.
The dyes formed are separated off after one of the customary basic operations such as filtration, evaporation and filtration, precipitation in a suitable medium and filtration.
The new dyes are preferably used for dyeing, padding and printing of structures made of polymers with more than 80 o / o acrylonitrile, for example polyacrylonitrile, e.g. B. Orlon (registered trademark), and copolymers of 80 to 900/0 acrylonitrile and 20-10 0/0 vinyl acetate, methyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate.
Such products are among the following e.g. Some of the registered trademarks are known: Acrilan (the mixed polymer of 85 o / o acrylonitrile and 15 o / o vinyl acetate or vinyl pyridine), Orlon, Dralon, Courtellw, Crylor, Dynel, etc.
On these materials, the dyeings have good light, wash, perspiration, sublimation, pleating, decatur, ironing, water, seawater, bleaching, dry cleaning, dyeing and solvent fastness.
The dyeing with the claimed dyes is advantageously carried out in an aqueous medium, it being advisable to work in a neutral or acid medium at boiling temperature.
The use of commercially available retarders is not a problem, although the new dyes are particularly suitable for achieving very level colorations on the abovementioned polymers even without a retarder. You can of course also carry out the dyeing in a closed vessel at elevated temperature and under pressure, since the new dyes are extremely resistant to boiling. With the dyes according to the definition, mixed fabrics which contain a polyacrylonitrile fiber content can also be dyed very well. Some of them are also suitable for dyeing polyacrylonitrile in bulk in lightfast and wetfast shades.
In some cases, those descendants which have good solubility in organic solvents are also suitable for coloring bad paints, varnishes, plastic compounds, plastics and for spinning plastic compounds dissolved in organic solvents.
Furthermore, some of the new basic dyes can be used for many other purposes, for example for dyeing tannin cotton, wool, silk, regenerated cellulose, synthetic polyamide fibers and paper at any stage of manufacture. It has been shown that mixtures of two or more dyes of the formula (I) can also advantageously be used.
The new dyes are notable for their ease of combination, so that dye salts of the same or different dye classes can be used for the most varied of shade settings.
The hydrazine group can be attached to the diazo and / or to the azo component via an optionally substituted methylene group or a divalent radical bonded to the adjacent N via such a group, optionally in addition to other cationic groups. Diazo compounds of the benzene, naphthalene and heterocyclic series are suitable for producing the azo dyes used according to the invention.
Suitable coupling components are derivatives of the benzene, naphthalene and heterocyclic series. Aminobenzene derivatives substituted by optionally substituted alkyl groups and by in the aromatic nucleus, e.g. B. by optionally substituted alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, cyano, trifluoromethyl, alkanoylamino, alkylsulfonylamino and the like. a. substituted descendants. The term alkyl radical not only applies to hydrocarbon radicals such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, and butyl etc.
Validity, but also for their substitution products (cf. also scientific treatise on Anthracene and Anthraquinone by E. der Barry, Barnett, London 1921, page 207). The following are to be mentioned as substituents or substitution products: halogen, hydroxyl, such as. B. in the chloropropyl, hydroxyethyl, dihydroxypropyl radical, also ethers and esters, such as. B. methoxyethyl, acetoxyalkyl radicals, the esters of carboxylic and sulfonic acids, such as. B. in the carbalkoxyalkyl radical, the nitrile group, such as. B. ethyl radical in cyano.
In the following examples, parts are parts by weight, percentages are percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example 1
18.4 parts of N-ethyl-N-ß-chloroethyl-aminobenzene are dissolved in 100 parts of methanol and, after adding 9.5 parts of 1,1-diethylhydrazine, the solution is refluxed for 24 hours.
The solvent is then evaporated off and the pulverized residue is washed with a little benzene.
The dried product is dissolved in 400 parts of water and coupled with a hydrochloric acid diazonium salt solution prepared in the customary manner from 16 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitro-benzene. If necessary, a little sodium chloride is added to precipitate the dye, the mixture is filtered, washed with 10% sodium chloride solution and dried. A dark brown-red powder results.
Dyeing example A
20 parts of the dye obtained according to Example 1 are intimately mixed with 80 parts of dextrin in a ball mill for 48 hours.
Then 1 part of the obtained preparation is made into a paste with 1 part 40 of the above acetic acid, 400 parts of distilled water of 60 are poured over the pulp while shaking and then boiled. It is diluted with 7600 parts of distilled water, 2 parts of glacial acetic acid are added and, at 60, 100 parts of Orlon (registered trademark) are added to the dyebath. The material was pretreated for 10 to 15 minutes at 600 in a bath of 8,000 parts water and 2 parts glacial acetic acid. It is then heated to 1000 within 30 minutes, boiled for 1 hour and rinsed. A level red dyeing of excellent light fastness and very good wet fastness properties is obtained.
Example of the foulard dyeing
To make the block paste you use:
50 g (liter of dye (corresponding to the dye preparation prepared in the previous dyeing example)
3 glides of sodium alginate
5 glides acetic acid conc.
20 gliders of a cationic Weachtnacher z. B. a condensation product of 1 mole of stearic acid and 1 mole
Triethanolamine
25 part liters of Glauber's salt.
Polyacrylonitrile fibers are padded cold on a 2- or 3-roll pad using conventional methods. The squeezing effect is 80 / o. After brief intermediate drying at 90 "in a tenter frame, hot flue or with the aid of an infrared heater, it is fixed with dry air in the nozzle frame at 170-190 for 1-3 minutes, then rinsed, soaped and rinsed again. A red dyeing with excellent lightfastness properties is obtained .
Example of printing
A printing paste consists of:
75 parts of dye (corresponding to the dye preparation prepared in the above dyeing example)
10 parts of acetic acid conc.
450 parts of atrium alginate thickening
25 parts of a katton-active plasticizer, e.g. B. a condensation product of 1 mole of stearic acid and 1 mole of triethanolane '
25 parts of Glauber's salt
415 parts of water and 1000 parts of polyacrylonitrile fibers are printed using the customary hand printing process, the material is then air-dried, steamed in a star steamer with saturated steam for 20-30 minutes, then rinsed, soaped and rinsed again. A red print with very good fastness properties is obtained.
Example 2
A hydrochloric acid diazonium salt solution prepared in the usual way from 17.25 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitro-benzene is adjusted to a pH of 5 to 6 with sodium acetate at 0 °. After a clear filtration, the diazo solution is initially charged and 26 parts of the compound of the formula are stirred
EMI5.1
dissolved in 290 parts of water, added. The dye precipitates immediately. It is filtered, washed with water and dried. A dark powder with a melting point of 182-187 results. The resulting dye of the formula
EMI5.2
colors polyacrylonitrile from neutral, acetic and sulfuric baths in muted orange shades with excellent fastness properties.
The azo compound used to produce the dye is obtained by reacting N-phenyl-N'hydroxyäthylpiperazin with an ethereal chloramine solution. The crude melting point of the reaction product is 155-160. The preparation recrystallized from alcohol / water melts at 161au 1670.
Example 3
8 parts of finely powdered, anhydrous sodium nitrite are added to 105 parts of 96% sulfuric acid at a temperature range of 60-700. After complete dissolution, the nitrosylsulfuric acid formed is cooled to 15-200, 100 parts of glacial acetic acid are allowed to flow in at 20, followed by sprinkling in 16.3 parts of 2-amino-5-nitro-benzonitrile and a further 100 parts of glacial acetic acid.
The mixture is stirred at 150 for 2-3 hours, the excess nitrite is destroyed by adding 5 parts of urea and then loading onto 350 parts of water. The diazonium salt solution of O is then filtered and mixed with 29 parts of a compound of the formula
EMI5.3
dissolved in 200 parts of water, added.
The clutch starts slowly; the pH is adjusted to 5.5 by adding ammonia.
At this pH value, the coupling takes place momentarily, so that it can be filtered, rinsed and dried immediately. The color salt of the formula
EMI5.4
colors polyacrylonitrile in ruby red tones.
If, in the example mentioned, the diazo compound 2-amino-5-nitro-benzonitrile is replaced by 26.2 parts of 2,4-dinitro-6-bromoaniline, the result is a corresponding color salt which dyes polyacrylonitrile and polyester fibers modified by acidic groups in red-brown shades.
The dye made from the diazo compound 2-bromo-4-nitroaniline gives polyacrylonitrile a strong red color.
If 2-methylsulfonyl-4-nitroaniline is used as the diazo compound instead of 2-bromo-4-nitroaniline, the ruby-colored dye of the formula is obtained
EMI6.1
Example 4 A solution of 23 parts of the compound is added to a hydrochloric acid diazonium salt solution prepared in the customary manner from 17.25 parts of 1-amino-2-chloro-4-nitrobenzene
EMI6.2
dissolved in 400 parts of water flow in. The coupling is accelerated by blunting the reaction medium with sodium acetate. The sparingly soluble perchlorate salt is obtained by adding a 10% own perchlorate solution. It is filtered, rinsed free of acid and dried.
The resulting dye of the formula
EMI6.3
melts at 165-1750, dissolves in hot water with yellow-brown and in cold, concentrated sulfuric acid with a bluish red color.
To prepare the phenylpiperazine salt used to form the dye, 48 parts of dichloro ethylaniline are dissolved in 170 parts of methanol, 18.5 parts of sodium carbonate are added, and a solution of 9.2 parts of monomethylhydrazine in 45 parts of methanol is slowly added dropwise while stirring at the boiling point. The conversion has ended after 24 hours at the boiling point. The precipitated salt is then filtered off and the filtrate is evaporated to dryness. The compound of the formula thus obtained
EMI6.4
melts at 216-218.

The carrier of the hydrazine group does not necessarily need to be a coupling component of the benzene or naphthalene series, as is shown in the above examples, but also heterocyclic coupling components, such as. B. in the following color materials are possible.

Some of the dyes built up with a heterocyclic N-containing diazo compound, corresponding to the types listed several times in the table above,
can be converted into multiply charged color cations with suitable quaternizing agents. The quaternization of a ternary, heterocyclic N atom is known. The methods described in the literature are suitable. The resulting reaction products, however, are new. Characteristic for their constitution is the simultaneous presence of hydrazinium and cycloammonium groups. A suitable manufacturing method is described in the following example.
Example 45 2.5 parts of the dye of the formula
EMI14.2
were dissolved in 50 parts of nitromethane and heated to 800. 0.8 part of dimethyl sulfate is added dropwise over a temperature range of 80-90. The mixture is stirred for a further 12 hours at 80 "and then the solvent is distilled off under reduced pressure. The dry distillation residue is then taken up in a water / alcohol mixture, dissolved while hot and, after a clear filtration, allowed to cool. The precipitating dye of the formula
EMI14.3
is obtained in excellent yield; It dissolves in water with a blue color and dyes polyacrylonitrile fibers in brilliant blue tones from acetic, neutral and mineral acid baths, in which it is resistant to boiling.
The dyeing on polyacrylonitrile fibers has excellent fastness to light, washing, perspiration, sublimation, rubbing, wet and dry ironing, sea water, flue gas, bleaching, dyeing and dry cleaning. The dye reserves wool and cellulose fibers that are present in the same dye bath. The colorations are irrelevant in their shade and the dyes have a better leveling power than those of similar constitutions, for example made from the same diazo compound and diethylaminobenzene as coupling component.
The possibility of variation of the dyes which can be prepared according to the invention is further increased by the fact that the diazo compound can also be a carrier of the hydrazinium base.
In addition to the azo compounds mentioned above, the following are particularly suitable for the preparation of the dyes according to the invention:
Azo compounds of the benzene and naphthalene series, such as. E.g .: 4-methylpltenol, 4-tert, butylphenol, 2-methoxy-5-methylaniline, N-ethylaniline, 2,5-dimethoxy-N-ethylaniline;
3-acetylamino-N-cyanoethylaniline, N-cyanoethyl-N-oxäthylaniline, N-13-difluoroethyl-N-acetoxyethylaniline, 3-propionylamino-N, N-diacetoxyethylaniline, N-methoxyethyl-N-cyanoethylaniline, N-methoxyethyl-N-cyanoethylaniline, N-ethylaniline, "s -chloro-N-chloroethyl-N-ethylaniline, N-dimethylaminoethyl-N-ethylaniline, phenylcarbamic acid (β-ethyl-3-toluidino) ethyl ester, aniline-N, N-dicarbamic acid ethyl ester, 2-methoxy acid -5 -cyan-ss-r-dihydroxypropyl- N-cyanoethylaniline, couplable compounds of the naphthol AS type, derivatives of diphenylamine, 3-nitro-5-cyanoethyl-N-ethyl-aniline, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro- 2-hydroxynaphthalene, 1-amino-2-oxynaphthalene-ethylaminonaphthalene, oxethylaminonaphthalene.
In addition, the usual heterocyclic coupling components and / or those with an active methylene group are worth mentioning. Examples are: 3-hydroxyquinoline-, 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-5, as well as substitution products derived therefrom such as 1- (3'-chlorophenyl-) -3-methyl-pyrazolone-5, 1-ethyl-3-carboxamide -pyrazolon- 5, 1-cyanoethyl-3-carbethoxypyrazolon-5
1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-aminopyrazole, 2-methylindole, N-phenyl-3-oxypyrrolidine, a-cyanoacetophenone, acetoacetylanilide and derivatives derived therefrom, 1,3-diketones and derivatives derived therefrom such as e.g. B. Indandione.
An example of this type is e.g. B. the following dye:
