Description

Process for polishing rotating workpieces. The invention forms a Ver drive for polishing rotating work pieces.

The drawing shows an embodiment example of a device for carrying out the method, namely FIG. 1 shows a side view with the work piece, FIG. 2 shows a rear view and FIG. 3 shows a top view of the example. The device has a horizontal shaft .F 'mounted in two ring lubrication bearings, which lies transversely to the roller G to be polished and is set in rotary motion by a belt with the wedged pulley 9. On the front side, the cup-shaped polishing wheel B is attached. The shaft F with the polishing wheel is movable not only about its own axis but also in the longitudinal direction.

At the rear, a flange C with a spring H and two screws is attached to absorb the pressure that results from pressing the polishing disk B against the roller G. Because the shaft F is resilient in its longitudinal direction, the polishing wheel B adapts to any shape, whether the rotating roller is cylindrical, hollow or cambered. To with the constant pressure of the spring forward. To prevent the spring from rotating with the shaft and working into the rear bearing, three hardened washers 0 are placed over the shaft between the bearing and the spring.

One disc is attached to the bearing and cannot rotate, the middle disc is tightly mounted on the shaft F, the outermost disc is loose and is only pressed against the other discs by the spring. When pressure is applied from the front, the shaft pushes backwards against the spring action. The two outer disks lift, inevitably away from the bearing, because the middle disk is firmly attached to the shaft. The rotating movement of the shaft does not affect the spring, the friction takes place between the two outer discs. Screw holes B are drilled at the bottom of the support, the dimensions of which must be adapted to the machine where the device is to be mounted. However, it is important that the center of the lower edge of the polishing pad is exactly at the height of the point on the machine.

It is advantageous if the shaft F is not exactly at right angles to the piece to be polished, but rather at an angle of about one degree, so that the polishing wheel works much better. As with grinding, the device also requires cooling water. The axis of rotation of the tool B is thus transverse to the rotary nose of the workpiece G.
