WALL SIDING MODULE AND SYSTEM
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to wall structures for buildings such as houses and the like. More particularly, but not exclusively, the present disclosure relates to a wall siding module and system.
BACKGROUND
[0003] Siding is the protective material attached to the exterior side of a wall of a building. Along with the roof, it forms the first line of defense against the elements. The siding material and style also can enhance the aesthetics of the building. Walls that are internally framed must always be sided. Most siding consists of pieces of weather-resistant material that are smaller than the wall they cover, to allow for expansion and contraction of the materials due to moisture and temperature changes. Sidings can be made of plastic, metal, masonry, wood and other desired materials. Sidings are usually difficult to install and once installed, usually must be completely removed when there is a damage on a portion thereof.

Each modular side 12 comprises a plurality of modules in the form of elongated panels 16 mounted to a wall W of building structure B
via supports 18 as shown in Figure 2. The user simply fastens the horizontally disposed supports 18 to the wall W of the building B and then hangs panels 16 on the supports 18. The panels 16 may then be also fastened to the wall Was will be described herein. Openings 0 can also be cut open into the modular side 12 to provide a space for a window or a door for example. In an embodiment, the user may cut our patterns which cooperating patents 16 that when assembled form the opening 0 in the modular side 12.
[0036] With reference to Figures 3 and 4, a modular side or siding wall structure 12 comprises a plurality of panels 16 arranged in vertical columns 19.
Date recue/Received Date 2020-04-06
8 Each panel 16 defines an outer front face 20, an opposite inner face 22, a top end 24, an opposite bottom end 26 and opposite lateral sides 28A and 28B.
[0037] The front face 20 is a flat vertical surface structure. The top and bottom ends 24 and 26, define respective horizontal rearward extensions 30 and 32, thereby defining with the inner face 22 a rectangular channel 34. The top end 24 includes a vertical extension 36 upwardly extending from the horizontal rearward extension 30. A shoulder 38 is formed between the horizontal and vertical extensions 30 and 36. The bottom end inward extension 32 of a given upper panel 16A engages the shoulder 38 of the next lower panel 16B. More specifically, the extension 30 defines a free end 40 and an undersurface 42, whereas the extension 36 defines an outer face 44 and an opposite inner face 46. The undersurface 42 engages the shoulder 38 and the free end 40 engages the face 44. The inner face 46 includes a spacer such as embossment 48 that engages the wall W. The foregoing is repeated throughout the vertical column 19. As such, the panels 16 of a column 19 are disposed with the top end 24 of a lower panel 16B being engaged by the bottom end 26 of an upper panel 16 forming a series of grooves 52 between the panels 16 of a side 12.
[0038] The supports 18 are fastened to the wall W via fasteners 50.
One or more supports 18 may engage the inner surface 22 directly or be inserted in a groove formed within the inner surface 22 or engage a mounting element positioned on the inner surface as will be further explained below.
[0039] In an embodiment, the panels 16 are interconnected and thus molded together with the user deciding to cut them at various convenient heights.
Date recue/Received Date 2020-04-06
9 [0040] In an embodiment, the panels 16 are provided with varying lengths and placed adjacently to cover a wider wall structure W or cut to be shortened as desired.

Each panel 16' defines an outer front face 20', an opposite inner face 22', a top end 24', an opposite bottom end 26' and opposite lateral sides 28A' and 286'.
[0042] The front face 20' is a flat vertical surface structure. The top and bottom ends 24' and 26', respectively define respective rearward extensions 30' and 32'. Extension 30' defines an upwardly sloped outer surface 31' and a horizontal undersurface 33'. The top end 24' also includes a vertical extension 36' upwardly extending from the horizontal rearward extension 30'. A shoulder 38' is formed between the upwardly sloped surface 31' and vertical extension 36'. The vertical extension 36' defines an outer face 44' and an opposite inner face 46' which includes an embossment 48' engaging the wall W. The bottom end extension 32' defines a free end 40', an outer sloped surface 42' further defining a flat portion 43' and a horizontal inner surface 45'. A panel 16' forms a channel 34' with the wall W.
[0043] The bottom end rearward extension 32' of a given upper panel engages the shoulder 38' of the next lower panel 166. More specifically, the undersurface 42' engages the shoulder 38' and the free end 40' engages the face 44'. The inner face 46' and embossment 48' that engages the wall W. The foregoing is repeated throughout the vertical column 19 forming a series of grooves 52' between the panels 16' of a side 12'.
Date recue/Received Date 2020-04-06
10 [0044] Turning now to Figure 7, the support 18 comprise a vertical member defining wall mounting portion 54 in the form of a vertical tab, a proximal diagonal portion 56 diagonally and upwardly extending from portion 54, a median portion upwardly and vertically extending from portion 54, a distal diagonal portion diagonally and upwardly extending from portion 58. A mounting element 62 is mounted to the inner side 22' of the panel 16' via a fastener 63. The mounting element 62 complementarily engages the support 18 to allow the panel 16' to hang thereon. Element 62 comprises a vertical member defining a module mounting portion 64 in the form of a vertical tab, a proximal diagonal portion 66 diagonally and downwardly extending from portion 64, a median portion 68 downwardly and vertically extending from portion 64, a distal diagonal portion 70 diagonally and downwardly extending from portion 68.
[0045] Fasteners 50 are used to fasten the vertical portion 36' of the top end 24' to the wall W. The bottom end 26' of a directly upper panel 16'A engages the vertical portion 36' thereby hiding the fastened part thereof and providing a more aesthetically pleasing side 12'.
[0046] The channel 34' provides for expansion and contraction of the panel 16' due to a variety of weather conditions and temperatures. The embossments 48' along with the channel 34' provide a breathing space between a side 12' and the wall W for water to pass through for example. The complementarily structured mounting element 62 and support 18 are respectively and independently spring-like deformable and resilient thereby further providing structural elasticity without undermining integrity to the side 12'.
