Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing fine glass articles consisting of low viscosity glass, in particular of glass with viscosities of approximately eta < 10 dPa s. According to said method, a low-viscosity glass mass is supplied to a lower tool (1), whereby the glass mass is compression moulded by joining an upper tool (4), which is located opposite the lower tool (1), with said lower tool (1). In addition, the invention relates to the use of the method. The invention aims to provide a method for producing fine glass articles, which resolves the problem of rapid cooling, present in prior art, thus increasing the quality of the finished glass and allowing the production of fine glass articles by compression moulding. To achieve this, the inventive method is characterized in that the surface roughness (RZ) of the tools (1, 4) ranges between 5 and 15 mu m and the glass gob (2) is preformed between the method step "supply" and the method step "compression" by acceleration forces, whereby forces of between 1 and 10 g (gravitational acceleration) are achieved.
