Description

AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION FOR A STANDARD PATENT ORIGINAL Applicant(s): SABAF S.p.A. Actual Inventor(s): Angelo Bettinzoli Address for Service; PATENT ATTORNEY SERVICES 26 Ellingworth Parade Box Hill Victoria 3128 Australia Title: GAS BURNER The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us:- "Gas burner" CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION This application is a divisional application from International Application No. PCT/IB2011/002629 filed 8 November 2011 and the entire contents of that application and its associated specification (including drawings and abstract) are incorporated herein by cross reference. DESCRIPTION FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention concerns a gas burner of the type comprising at least two flame spreaders. KNOWN PREVIOUS ART More particularly, the present invention pertains to a gas burner comprising, in addition to the afore said at least two flame spreaders, also a chamber obtained between said two flame spreaders for the diffusion of an air! gas mixture for one or both the flame spreaders. In such a gas burner type the use of an interignition duct is known, to allow the flame passage from one to the other of the two flame spreaders and then to avoid the use of more spark plugs for sparking the flame ignition at the two flame spreaders. Such a duct is disposed transversally inside said first diffusion chamber, passing through it completely, so that to define a first and a second region inside the diffusion chamber. However these gas burners of the known art are not free of drawbacks. As a matter of fact, because of the presence of the afore said interignition duct, separating the diffusion chamber - as mentioned - in two regions fluidically distinct one from another, the diffusion of the air/ gas mixture inside the diffusion chamber is less uniform, thereby involving problems for the flame maintaining and subsequent combustion problems for the burner. For example, the Application W02209/ 053125 in the name of Elettrolux Home products corporation N.V., describes just a burner of the afore described type, comprising an interignition duct integral with the diffusion chamber and able to assure the almost concurrent ignition of both the flame spreaders present in the burner. Then it is an object of the present invention to realize a gas burner of the above described type able to render the air/ gas mixture more uniform inside the diffusion 2 chamber when the interignition duct is present. A further object of the present invention is to realize a burner being also structurally simple and not requiring particular assembling procedures and modifications in existing burners. These object are attained by the gas burner of the type comprising at least two flame spreaders, at least one diffusion chamber obtained between said at least two flame spreaders for the diffusion of an air/ gas mixture for at least one of said at least two flame spreaders, and at least one interignition duct for the flame passage between said at least two flame spreaders, said at least one duct being disposed transversally inside said at least one diffusion chamber so that to define a first and a second region in said at least one diffusion chamber, characterized by comprising at least one element for the direct fluidic connection between said first and said second region of said at least one diffusion chamber, said at least one connecting element being connected on top with said at least one interignition duct. Such a burner arrangement allows to obtain a direct fluidic connection between said two distinct regions of said combustion chamber so that to solve the problem of rendering the diffusion of the air/ gas mixture more uniform inside the diffusion chamber. According to an embodiment of the invention, said at least one connecting element comprises at least a latten connected over said interignition duct so that to define a section for the direct passage of the air/ gas mixture between said first and said second region of said diffusion chamber. Such a latten, made preferably of steel or aluminum, is advantageously obtained by shearing and bending, The use of such a latten allows to solve the above mentioned technical problem in a simple and economic way and without requiring excessive efforts for assembling such a burner component. More in detail, said at-least one duct comprises two walls separated one from another and transversally extended inside said at least one diffusion chamber, said at least two walls having a height lower than the height of the upper perimetric ends of said at least one diffusion chamber and, preferably, being realized integrally with said at least one diffusion chamber. According to the invention, said at least one latten comprises a central portion, able to be connected on top with said two walls of said at least one duct to cover on top said at least one duct, and two first side portions bent with respect to said central portion and. able to be both connected per shape to the side surface of the respective wall of said duct. Again, said at least one latten comprises as well at least two second side portions, 3 respectively, bent with respect to said central portion and able to be coupled per shape to at least part of the respective upper perimetric ends of said at least one diffusion chamber. Still according to the invention, both of said at least two first side portions comprise an end bent to constrain said at least one latten to said at least one diffusion chamber. Further, said at least one latten and said two walls of said duct comprise one or more openings and/or grooves for the fluidic communication between said at least one diffusion chamber and said interignition duct. The burner, according to the invention, further comprises means for centering said at least one latten with said at least one duct. Said centering means comprise at least one hole obtained in said latten and at least one pin connected with said at least one duct, or vice versa. According to a particular embodiment of the invention, said two flame spreaders are circular, said at least one diffusion chamber has a ring shape and said at least one duct is disposed radially with respect to said at least one diffusion chamber. Further, said upper perimetric ends of said at least one chamber comprise at least one of said at least two flame spreaders and said at least one chamber and said at least two flame spreaders are realized as a whole. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES For purposes of illustrations and not limitative, a particular embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying figures, in which: figure 1 is a perspective view of a gas burner according to the invention but free of said at least one connecting element; figure 2 is a perspective view of the gas burner of figure 1 provided with at least one connecting element; figure 3 is a perspective view of the gas burner of figure 2 provided with an upper lid; figure 4 is a longitudinally section view of the gas burner of figure 3; figure 5 is a detailed view of the gas burner of figure 4; figure 6a is a perspective view of a connecting element according to the invention; figure 6b is a further perspective view of a connecting element of figure 6a. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION 4 Referring particularly to such figures, with the numeral 1 is shown a gas burner according to the invention. Referring to figures 1 to 3, such a gas burner 1 comprises two flame spreaders 2, 3 and a chamber 4 obtained between said two flame spreaders 2, 3 for the diffusion of an air/ gas mixture for said two flame spreaders 2, 3. Further said gas burner 1 comprises an interignition duct 5 for the flame passage between said two flame spreaders 2 and 3, Particularly, in the case herein, the flame is firstly ignited by the spark plug at the inner flame spreader 3 and, subsequently, such a flame is transferred by said interignition duct 5 to the outer flame spreader 2 for the flame ignition at the latter. Such an interignition duct 5 is disposed transversally inside said first diffusion chamber 4 so that to define a first 6 and a second 7 region inside said diffusion chamber 4. According the embodiment herein described, said two flame spreaders 2, 3 are circular, said diffusion chamber 4 has a substantially ring shape and said interignition duct 5 is disposed radially with respect to said diffusion chamber 4. Further, the upper perimetric ends 11, 12 of said diffusion chamber 4 comprise said two flame spreaders 2, 3. As it is evident from the appended figures, said diffusion chamber 4 and said two flame spreaders 2 and 3 are realized as a whole, thereby defining a substantially toroidal body having a U shape. In figure 3 the gas burner 1 further comprises an upper lid 25 able to be connected to said two flame spreaders 2, 3. Based on such an arrangement, the two regions 6 and 7 of said diffusion chamber 4 are substantially separated one from another by said interignition duct 5. It has to be observed that, although so far it is described a conventional burner having an annular shape and comprising two flame spreaders and an annular diffusion chamber realized as a whole with said two flame spreaders, however an embodiment wherein said two flame spreaders are, for example, straight as the diffusion chamber itself, falls again within the protection scope of the present invention. According to the invention, said gas burner 1 comprises an element 8 for the direct fluidic connection between said first 6 and said second 7 region of said diffusion chamber 4, wherein said connecting element 8 is connected on top with said interignition duct 5. In practice, then, such a connecting element 8 defines, with the lower surface 26 of the lid 25, a passage section 70 for the air/ gas mixture present in the diffusion chamber 4 . The air/ gas mixture is then able to pass between said first and second regions 6 and 7 of said diffusion chamber 4 with no difficulties, thereby entailing a higher efficiency degree of flame combustion 5 According to the invention, said connecting element 8 comprises a latten obtainable by shearing and bending and it is made, preferable, of steel, although it could be realized in different metals, such as, for example, aluminum. Always according to the embodiment herein described, said interignition duct 5 comprises two walls 9, 10 separated one from another and transversally and radially extended inside said diffusion chamber 4. These two walls 9 and 10, obtained integrally with said diffusion chamber 4, have a height lower than the height of the upper perimetric ends 11, 12 of said diffusion chamber 4. These upper ends 11, 12 in the embodiment herein described coincide with said flame spreaders 2 and 3. In other embodiments herein not evident, said upper perimetric ends 11 and 12, or at least one of them, could also not coincide with both or at least one of the two flame spreaders, and they could be used to obtain a further diffusion chamber or carry out support tasks for the upper lid and the like, without for this reason exiting from the protection scope of the present invention. In figures 6a and 6b a connecting element 8 is illustrated, comprising a latten 8 according to the invention. Such a latten 8 comprises a central portion 13, able to be connected on top with said two walls 9, 10 of said duct 5 to cover on top said interignition duct 5, and two first side portions 14, 15 bent with respect to said central portion 13 and able to be both connected per shape laterally to the respective wall 9, 10 of said interignition duct 5. Particularly, said latten 8 comprises as well at least two second side portions 16, 17, respectively, bent with respect to said central portion 13 and able to be coupled per shape to the upper perimetric ends 11, 12 of said diffusion chamber 4. In case of the embodiment, said upper ends 11 and 12 coincide with said two flame spreaders 2, 3. Further, said two first side portions 14, 15 both comprise an end 18 bent to constrain said latten to said diffusion chamber 4. As can be seen in figures 1 and 2, said latten 8 and said two walls 9, 10 of said interignition duct 5 comprise, respectively, more openings 19 and grooves 20 for the fluidic communication between the diffusion chamber 4 and said interignition duct 5. At last, said gas burner 1 comprises means 21 for centering said latten 8 with said interignition duct 5. Said centering means 21 comprise a hole 22 obtained in said latten 8 and a pin 23 connected with said at least one duct or, according to an embodiment herein not shown, vice versa. When used in this specification and claims, the terms "comprises" and "comprising" and variations thereof mean that the specified features, steps or integers are included. The 6 terms are not to be interpreted to exclude the presence of other features, steps or components. 7
